[QUOTE="sonicphc"][QUOTE="dalejrgamer"][QUOTE="Smashbrossive50"]nah,I don't care,at least it's for atmosphere(I have it on the laptop I was using)do you think it is that corny?the opening is,not the reff or the horns(that's for me)songs without lyrics...you hate music, don't you?all music origins are from the lyrics themselves(karaoke used these at all times)imagine...try to sing at least one song under your demand, what will happen?you forgot!lyrics help resemble vocals so it's useful(trust me,it's a fact from my research)whoozwah

Seriously, lolwut
I think he's running his stuff through a translator program, which is why it comes out a little mechanical sounding. I think he meant something along the lines of: "I don't care, as long as it creates the right atmosphere (I have it on my laptop). Do you really think it's that corny? I mean, the opening is, but not the horn riff. About songs without lyrics... you must hate music. All songs are tied to the lyrics (karaoke singers know this). Just try to sing a song of yours from memory {"Song of yours" meaning lyricless, here}. See, you forgot it already! The lyrics are important to the meoldy (trust me, I know)." And I must wholeheartedly disagree with this statement. I can sing you any song without lyrics that I regularly listen to (which is all of it), and even split it up into its respective harmonies and instrumentation and sing those individual parts if I wanted to. Lyrics distract you from everything else that's going on and focus your attention on one thing... typically because there's not much going on and the song would be incredibly boring were the vocal melody to be replaced by, say, a Clarinet. This is because 95% of modern music is terrible and generic and has no musical substance beyond the message the lyrics carry. Not to say that all songs with lyrics are sloppily/hastily composed. There's some pretty amazing stuff out there. Unfortunately, it's hard to find.I can counterpoint that by saying that talented musicians and Prog/AOR bands especially understand the importance of not only compelling musicianship but the art of utilizing the voice AS an instrument. I can provide you with an example:
Evergrey - Caught in a Lie
The fist part of the song goes off like most contemporary tunes. But a couple minutes in, it changes and Tom's vocals add a layer to this somber part and bring about a mood shift that I physically feel when I listen to it. It's a special thing to use the voice like that.
Also, Pink Floyd - Great Gig in the Sky
this needs no explanation.
Well, you're both right. We should stick to the topic at hand, tho.
