New vs. Old

I can make banners...but it looks like it has to be specific..

No it's not, but no one really cares.

I don't care as long as there's a banner.

A few weeks ago, Dandymarsh mentioned in a PM that the current banner "will be updated in due time."

I should add an addendum to my office description. Dandymarsh lurks in the shadows, wearing a cape and round hat very reminiscent of Zorro. When you least expect it, he lunges from the shadows, except he replaces justice delivered by sword with paint delivered by brush. Nobody knows when he will strike next.sonicphc

Alas, the only evidence we have of his true appearance is a self-drawn sketch...

Nah. Pulled from the Interweb from some random site from some random person. ;) I appreciate the commendation, though. :P

Personally, and I will say it, this banner was not as flashy or eyecatching as it could be. My main concern is the HUGE BLANK areas you see. There should be more there.

I miss the last one, with the 8-bit Sonic on the 2 different backgrounds, one being an "official" looking palette and the other being a backdrop from the Sunset Hill Zone from Sonic Advance 3.

As for the banner, I have to say I liked to old one better (although I'll admit I don't remember it as well).  Perhaps I'm just growing old and senile.  After all, I just like OLD sonic games, and all these flashy new characters with their baggy pants and radical hair styles are beyond my taste. 

I'm just waiting for someone to say "OMG LIEK WE SHULD HAVE SHADOW IN TEH NEW BANNER" (or something to that effect).  Reading kbaily rants is like watching Shark week on discovery channel.  Sure, you can SAY that you're interested in all the shark facts, but everyone knows you just like watching those Seals get the crap beaten out of them by those big 'ol Great Whites.

(And yes, I do indeed watch shark week, mostly because I watch a lot of discovery channel.  In fact, discovery channel was a great way to relax after a hard earned day of working at the convention center in New Orleans)

I wouldn't say distracting. In fact you can take a look at the banner of this union or of this union and you can see they are not "distracting" as you say. They are very well-done and as you see both unions are VERY, VERY active.

I mean no offense but I do wanna mention if the banner is AAA quality and eyecatching it gets users to feel a little more comfortable posting in said union.

The seal slowly makes its way out of the coast.  It's desperate to make the 12 mile journey to the relative safety of the nearby island.  Its swimming becomes frantic.  It knows that there is something wrong.  Its pulse deepens.  The seal knows that it must hurry, as it is only a matter of time.  It takes a quick survey underwater, nothing but blackness.  It continues its race across the violent waters; it knows it isn't alone. The seal begins to take its next brea....WHAM.  The 18-foot Great White springs into the air as the helpless seal is caught in its ferocious pair of teeth.  It violently shakes its newfound catch with a terrifying force.  The seal is no more.....wait, did you say you're kidding?  Damn.....I had prepared this Discovery Channel reference for so long!
