Hydrocity wasnt much a problem for me i agree the Labriyth zone was very annoying to me when i was Young i could never get pass the boss (if you call it  that) of the level either drowned or got killed by the obstacles
And then i hated the snowy level in sonic advance 1 at the end because with sonic i usually drown before killing the boss @_@Â
Hydrocity (is it pronounced hydro-city or hy-drocity?) was actually quite a fun level, despite you actually being in the sewers of course.
Labyrinth is far wetter and far far far far far far far to the power of the sideways 8 worse.
It's a pity Screwattack had to join GT and IGN in the pool of those without creds.TheFallenDemon
don't kid yourself. As long as someone has an opinion, there will always be a troll to come along and "discredit" it.
I've always pronounced it the latter.Hydrocity (is it pronounced hydro-city or hy-drocity?) was actually quite a fun level, despite you actually being in the sewers of course.

Yeah I didn't have that much trouble with Hydrocity because you had a lot more opportunities to get some speed going and ways to almost bypass most of the water depending on the path you took. As for Labyrinth everyone remembers it being a pain. When I played the first Sonic waaaaay back, I was able to breeze through Green Hill, Marble, and Spring Yard but Labyrinth was where I died and started using continues then I breezed through Starlight Zone though Scrap Brain was harder as well as just to piss us off more they throw in that last water stage in act III.
But water levels suck. PERIOD!! Clanker's Cavern, Labyrinth Zone, any of Mario's water levels unless you have the right suit.

Some thoughts on the ones I played.
Yeah Hyrdocity isn't awful though how many times did that bugger Tails steal your bubbles? Almost as bad as him geting rings in Sonic 2's special stages then taking a hit and knocking the total down to where you lose.
The TMNT dam where you have to swim through the dam water dodging the dam obstacles to stop the dam bombs and swimming around dam seaweed and everyone hates the dam level.
Yeah I'll be devil's advocate and say I didn't mind the sailing in Wind Waker mainly because I would stop along the way to hunt for treasure, explore the little mini dungeon islands, fight the pirates on the towers etc. Also I do think people hate Ocarina's Water temple more than they should as well. It's just easy to forget which level you need to go to next and it's a pain that they only item that works in the water is the hookshot.
Also I'm surprised no mention of some of the 3D Mario water levels. One of the few times in usually polished Mario games where the camera can get stuck and the fact that after the jump to 3D they started giving Mario limited air as well. I blame Sonic.
Also I have a dishonorable mention. Kameo: Elements of Power (360)there's a form called Deep Blue which is a sort of sea monster. On land he's ok, just slow but shoots powerful water jets however he's the only form you can use to go into the water and the minute you're in the water the controls go to hell thanks to the weird control scheme the game set up since the x, y, a,b buttons aren't used for attacks or jumping like most normal games and instead used to switch between selected forms, you have to use the shoulder buttons to make deep blue swim and this is about as effective as hitting yourself in the head with a hammer.

Never. I'd always play with Sonic alone.Yeah Hyrdocity isn't awful though how many times did that bugger Tails steal your bubbles? Almost as bad as him geting rings in Sonic 2's special stages then taking a hit and knocking the total down to where you lose.

Actually only tails looses the rings if the mine hit him he has so as long as you get the rings your fine Â

Water Palace in Sonic Rush. I haven't played Wind Waker, but the idea of open sailing actually has me interested. I like open exploration, and in many games I will spend hours just roaming around, exploring.Yeah I'll be devil's advocate and say I didn't mind the sailing in Wind Waker mainly because I would stop along the way to hunt for treasure, explore the little mini dungeon islands, fight the pirates on the towers etc. Also I do think people hate Ocarina's Water temple more than they should as well. As for the Water Temple, people say it's way harder than it actually is, I agree. I actually find it... not bad. The boot switching is annoying but not that annoying. There are worse temples (Jabu Jabu is a pain, Fire Temple is meh, and I cannot stand the Bottom of the Well). OoT3D's Water Temple became too easy.
[QUOTE="kbaily"]Never. I'd always play with Sonic alone. I couldn't, I have siblings that have to play with me. :PYeah Hyrdocity isn't awful though how many times did that bugger Tails steal your bubbles? That's why I always play Sonic 2 without Tails. :Pmacrules_640Then you're not playing it right!
Of course I am, that way I can collect the emeralds without a headache. :Pmacrules_640
word. Tails doesn't do anything but wreck stuff.

That is so true but ever wondered why Sonic and Knuckles didn't have 1 water level whereas Sonic 3 had just about evey zone apart from Marble Garden.chocolate1325So that the water fans could play Sonic 3 while the water haters could play Sonic & Knuckles, of course. :P
Tails is a great meatshield. If you run out of rings, use him to fight the boss while Sonic goes to evasive manuevars. He can be very effective against Robotnik's balloon thing in Metropolis. Take a hit, them score a hit while invincible.demoman_chaosI used to think the only way you could possibly beat him was to do that, actually. :|

I've gotten used to him, he's not that bad really. :PSuper Tails drowns though, and I think Hyper Knuckles.mariostar0001
Yeah but nowadays it seems like Sega likes to pretend that those forms never existed as they've never shown up again and it seems like only male hedgehogs can use the Chaos Emeralds for super saiyan forms. (Blaze doesn't count because she uses different emeralds for her form) Though we'd all like to see Hyper Knuckles and Tails again.
The only other time I saw Hyper Knuckles and Super Tails was in that Nazo Unleashed fan film.macrules_640And a lot of other fan works. :P

I remember that, I thought the challenge was steep too and I did think it was a bit unfair for players to 'defeat' the boss.
Oh topic, I thought Hydrocity was a good improvement and alot of fun! I agree with the OP. Â
