Remember that overly-complicated SonicSpot Challenged thing I tried to do a while back? Well, how about a simple rankings board for showing off? Of course, as you're probably already aware, nothing with me is ever that simple. I'm using scripting in Google Docs to make a fully automated system. You fill out the form, a couple of scripts get run, and the resultant rankings spreadsheet is automatically updated. Right now, however, I need some test data! Fill out This Google Docs Form as many times as you'd like. Right now the only supported game is Sonic Generations, but I'll eventually be adding other games as requested (use the suggestion box feature for that, or just comment here) Go crazy. I hope to have the rankings live by middle of next week. :)

Both. Items submitted without any form of verification don't get assigned a rank, but will still show up on the rankings page so the submitter can still clearly see how they stack up. In order to get a numerical rank, some kind of verification must be provided (what counts depends on the game).
haven't got around to populating information yet. I had to borrow a camera. I'll probably post my top times from the 18 main acts tomorrow with photo evidence to back up my times.
Okay, so having gotten some feedback, and in the interest of encouraging everyone to partake, here's what the "verifications" will be: Basically, if you can provide any way that anyone can confirm your time, post/mention it in that verification box at the end. Whatever you put there will be attached to your time. For the most part, this can be an online username with the network that applies to so we can look up your time if need be (EX: I'm ClarionX on Steam, and those with a PC copy of the game can look that up). Pictures and videoa are preferred, as they require less effort for others to confirm, but not mandatory if you have another way. You CAN submit without any verification. Obviously, we'd have no way of confirming your time/score if you did that. Some kind of proof makes you look way better, though. This thing is self-policed. If someone who made an awesome speed run goes in and sees that you sent in a time 10 seconds better than them, they might want to call BS, in which case you'll need to convince us if you want to keep that #1/2/3 rank. TL;DR - No proof/verification material required. Any and all proof/verification material is accepted. Putting it there protects your "honor," as it were. BONUS NOTE: If you submit now without proof and want to add it later, just resubmit. The system will replace your non-proof submission with your proof one. If you already had proof, the system will also replace your entry if your new time is the same or better than your previous time. BONUS BONUS NOTE: If fake submissions become an issue (and, honestly, why would you put up fake submissions for a tiny ranking system on a random Sonic forum that's a small part of a larger site?), I may add to the form a way to comment on other submissions reasons you think they're fake. I really, really doubt we'll need this, though...
I submitted some scores. act 1 of green hill, chemical plant and sky sanctuary as well as act 2 of speed highway. all with picture verification but the flash didn't work out too well on a couple of them so you may not be able to see my name written on the paper. it's clearly mine though as speed highway is totally legible and the paper is in the same place in all the pics, they're just dark when the flash didn't work.

Agreed. I'm working as fast as I can. It's week 10 of the 11 week quarter, which means finals and final projects are just around the corner. I've a lot on my place.
The rankings are LIVE It refreshes every five to ten minutes. I'd make it update instantly on form submit, but there are some race conditions in my code that would cause weird behavior if multiple update scripts ran at the same time. When you submit, be sure to pay attention to the submission format. If it says "MM:SS" you need two digits for each. Google Spreadsheets sorts things alphabetically, for the most part, and so getting the format wrong will put your rank in the wrong place (and mark it as formatted wrong so you know to change it later ;) ) I've put an example of the correct format on the page for each game (which is only Sonic Generations, right now).
I've put in all my times for the various Generations levels. I'm a little terrified of what other times srbrans is going to be putting in over the next few days...

You left off a digit in your time. I fixed it for you so you don't get the angry red "???". ;)
I'm working on getting good times in the levels for online. Rather than take pics or video, you can tag my PSN ID to it (LunarWingCloud) and look it up that way. But I'll include that when I submit my times all at once.
I finally got all my current times put up. They get automatically changed to the wrong format. And some of them had 0.4 seconds added.srbrans
You used a colon not a period for the last portion of the format. Should be two digits, colon, two digits, period, two digits. I can fix it and re-run the submission evaluation script here pretty quickly. I can't find any examples where .4 got added to the time you actually submitted, though. :/

It happened to whoozwah as well. Check some of our proofs, but I did just resubmit Green Hill 1 and it did it properly. Huh. So, when you submit in the form MM:SS:FF (note the second colon) the spreadsheet converts it into a time format and round up by .4 for some strange reason. MM:SS.FF (the correct format, note the period) processed as a textual string, so there's no rounding to be done. I'll go fix those times later tonight.

I wasn't really worried about posting really killer times. I just hopped into the online time trial and had a couple go's at the stages I posted and said eff it. My times are pretty indicative of what an average run through those levels would be, not really what my absolute most amazing take every shortcut perfect run would be. When I get the inclination, I'll go back and post times for missing levels as well.

Mine are all mostly "no mistake" runs - always taking the highest route etc. I haven't gone hunting for the perfect places to do random little tricks and spindashes yet. (Sky Sanctuary 1 being the exception)
