AS someone who played and disliked both, I can't say which is worse. Shadow's game was more functional but slowed down the gameplay by having to stop and shoot. Sonic 06 was slowed down by framerate issues and constant load times. Both were slowed down by tedious fetch quests. On the upside Shadow's game only had one playable character.
Trying to choose between the two was like the 2004 election between George Bush and John Kerry. You had two bowls of sh-- and the only difference was the way they smelled.

Actually, you could shoot while running.
Count on me for all the corrections that don't really change the main point.
sonic unleashed was a pretty cool game, but i didnt like how there were less day stages than night. it concentrated more on the werehog than the hedgehog.
sonic the hedgehog '06 had horrible gameplay, controls, and sonic was pretty slower than he originally was.
Shadow the hedgehog was an okay game , the only things that dont make it were the guns and vehicles. It made shadow look like he needed help fighting. Chaos powers were cool though
overall=Shadow the hedgehog: It barely becomes my favorite out of the three. its not good but its not bad either. This was the first game that starred shadow the hedgehog and it was his first game so most gamers didn't really know what to expect before they play the finished product and trust me, i was one of them, but there werealso many sonic games and they had plenty of time to correct them. Shadow the hedgehog makes my vote by a tiny bit.

I, too, chose the third option, but on the thread's subject, I do think that Shadow was better than Sonic 06. At least Shadow didn't have some near game-busting glitches and overly-twitchy controls. Unleashed beats both of them out, though.StormShadow2346I agree. While I rated 06 a 6 and Shadow 5.5, I personally pick Shadow, since since loads were slightly faster, the only tech issue besides camera was lag, and the whole one character thing (which I mention in another thread).
personally i loved unleashed i liked the werehog but then again i enjoyed the combat in crash bandicoot: mom and i actually liked shadow yeah its the story is awful i know but i dont care about stories i just wanna play and i liked the gameplay yeah it wasnt the sonic your used to but does that make it bad the short answer is no as a game in general its pretty good IN MY OPINION sorry for sounding like darknessthecurse but thats my opinion bye.
Another thing in Shadow was the fact that if the camera would stay where it needed to be, gunplay was fun, and actually a somewhat decent addition to gameplay (I know others will disagree). However, again, lag and camera and REALLY bad writing to the story, as well as the 4Kids' crews WORST voicework make this game fail so bad I had to take the Final Fantasy ripoff of 06 over Shadow.

I guess depending on the standpoint Shadow is the better game. It lacks the horrid glitches of 06 and you only play as one character and I played the GC version which I hear was the superior version of the game. I could even get over the guns and the whole wannaba edgy tone of the game but I hated those tedious hero/dark missions that had me endlessly circling the stage forever trying to find the last enemy to kill or thing to find. If the game had just made all those levels linear, it might have been easier because the hero/dark thing in the end was for naught because SPOILER Shadow ends up saving the world anyway in the final stage.
And that was really the first game where they switched over to the 4Kids actors so the game characters would sound the same as the TV characters as to not to confuse the fragile minds of the children. Yeah, I know Sonic Rush actually had the voice acting first but it was so minimal in that game, it didn't matter.
