What would have happened....

Well the Sonic Adventure 2 story would've been drastically different because Shadow was a pivitol character of that storyline but he should've died and stayed dead after that.

But had Shadow stayed dead after SA2, Metal Sonic would've retained his place as "evil double" and Knuckles would've retained his role as "Han-soloesque anti hero" instead of now being "Sonic's thug."

But best of all, we wouldn't have had tons of angsty tweeners worshiping him and Sega trying to find a purpose for him.

The crappy game would have never been made, but I have to say, Team Dark may have ceased to be created, since Shadow is the main character behind that team in Sonic Heroes. Also, the entire storyline behind him, such as him being saved by Eggman, cloned, and the like, would have been null and void.

While I like Shadow, and he was a great character in SA2 and Heroes, afterward he should have been gone. They ruined him like they ruined 80% of the Sonic cast.

Shadow's a good rival when used correctly since Shadow has... you know, personality. But they make him the staple goth kid/loner.

And that's just sad.

I'd say emo but Silver seems the fit that role better.
