None of the above. All those suck. You want underated?

Sonic Triple Trouble

Sega Game Gear (and Master System). Easily Sonic's best 8 bit game. It's fast. It's fun. There's great powerups, the level design is great and Tails has submarine.

Also Tails Adventure

It might be slower, more exploration based, but it's the one time in the Sonic series it worked. Tails has a great Metroid/Zelda esque type of adventure where he uses an arsenal of unique items to traverse the landscape to fend off a bird army.

Both of these along with Sonic CD make the Gems collection worthwhile.

Sonic Unleashed easily. It should've been GOTY in 2008. This isn't a joke, of all the games released in 2008, I had the most fun playing Sonic Unleashed.

The PC version of Sonic 3D Blast. Makes the game average but a lot better then the Genesis version.

I think we have different ideas of what "underated means." I generall take it as "game that's good that not many heard about." Not "overhyped game with sucky gameplay that only die hard fans defend isn't garbage."

Might wanna replace one of those poll choices with an "Other" option. ;)

Without a doubt, Sonic Riders. Only those who have played it extensively truly know how great of a racer it really is. I'll leave it at that.

Runner-ups would include...

- Sonic Championship (An odd fit for the franchise, but a decent fighter, regardless. Official review coming soon.)

- Tails' Skypatrol (I realize nearly everyone out there hates this one, but I enjoyed the challenge, the ideas behind it, and the graphics and BGM were really nice. The more you play, the faster the pace can get along with your familiarity with the level design. Don't get frustrated and give up within the first minute of play like so many others have done. Infinite continues are there for a purpose. Just stick with it. In the end, what actually bothered me was the length of the game: five levels. Really? Still, I'd advise everyone to formulate their own opinions rather than being influenced by the large majority that loathe Skypatrol's guts and throw them in a blender for their pet hampster. Yes, that was random.)

- Knuckles' Chaotix (It's been years since I've had a go with Chaotix, so my impressions are somewhat vague. Although I wasn't a huge fan of the tether concept, the music was fantastic, and even emotional. Gotta love that mid-'90s atmosphere and color palette, too. This is most likely sonicPHC's "most underrated" pick, and I wouldn't be surprised if he chose it as so.)

It all depends by the meaning you give to underrated.

If its by unknown good games, Tails Adventures. A different and unique spinoff with RPG elements and a large durability for a GG title.

If you mean by underscore. Sonic Heroes and Riders.

The purpose of these options is the lowest scored, not the least heard of.

Chaotix had a fairly high reception, along with others.

I HATE most games here, but it is true that all of them were poorly received.

Not universally, but there are quite a few staunch supporters out there, regardless...

None of these. My favorite Sonic Game ever that people didn't seem to like was Sonic Adventure Battle 2 for the Gamecube. I loved it and lost countless hours on those Chaos.

Probably most of the 8-bit Sonic games, barring the obvious duds such as Drift, Labyrinth and Tails Sky Patrol. I think they were overlooked in their time, because they lacked the advantage of "blast processing" (lol) which is a marketing slogan Sonic came to define.

Underrated: Sonic 3-D Blast, Mario & Sonic (All four of them), Sonic Spinball, Tails Adventure, Sonic Triple Trouble, Sonic Labyrinth, Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine, Sonic & the Black Knight, Sonic & the Secret Rings, Sonic CD, Knuckles Chaotix, Blue Sphere.

Overrated: Shadow the Hedgehog, Shadow the Hedgehog, Shadow the Hedgehog, you get the idea.

*Looks at poll* Your joking right? I thought it was most underrated, not a "Biggest piece of crap SEGA has ever s*** out" poll.

That's what I thought. Under rated means,"decent game that no one played." (I have an entire union devoted to such games) Not "piece of garbage with bad gameplay that obsessed fans like just cause Sonic's face is slapped on it."

Well Spinball is especially bad on the Game Gear. The Genesis version is at best, adequate but the GG version has horrid graphics, awful sound and flighty controls and I sadly played that one.

Sonic Spinball on the Genesis wasn't a great Sonic game, but it was a great pinball game. Sonic Labyrinth also wasn't a good Sonic game, but it was a decent platformer. Sonic 3-D Blast had good speed if slightly of physics, and fun boss fights and a great last level (There were about twenty enemies and no flickies). And that's all I have to say, I'm not a love all fanboy (I didn't prefer Sonic Heroes, Drift was bad, and I'm sure 06, ShtH and StHG were bad). I just have a different opinion then most people, that's all.
