So the Raiders are 1-4 right now. They still have a good chance at a Super Bowl run, but we're all starting to get concerned.

What do you guys think about today's game? We got dominated in every aspect of the game, but at least Jamarcus Russell gave a DB the truckstick. Also, as Darius Heyward-Bey has stated, he's been having a solid season, so that's something to be glad about.

Al Davis has apparently gave notice to all teams that almost everyone on the Raiders is available so he obviously isnt happy

How they beat the Chiefs I don't know. I am stuck watching them every week and it's terrible. I'd rather watch reruns of the Golden Girls. I hope they get blacked out the rest of the year so I don't have to watch them out here.

No they don't. Maybe if they had an easier schedule, but they have games against the Eagles, the Jets, the Bengals, the Cowboys, the Steelers, the Broncos, and the Ravens. Even if they win all the other games, none of which are against fluff opponents, they'll still wind up not even at 500, five wins. I don't think I have to say anything more. They're a team on the brink and maybe next year they'll get an easier schedule, but this year I'd almost want to play for draft picks.

I don't think I've been wrong about anything I said about them, save for the predictions. I said JeMarcus Russel could sink or swim and that the team's success depended on it, check. I said they could be competitive within the division, they almost beat the Chargers. I said the defense could keep them in games, the offense just needs to be consistent for them to win, check. I also said they had a tough schedule and they would have to win tough games to make the playoffs, check. I think I was more wrong about the Broncos than I was about the Raiders.

I didn't watch any of the Raider games but didn't they lose by 20+ points during the past three games?

He's being sarcastic for those of you that haven't noticed.....

Anyway, they need to get rid of Cable, and maybe beg for Gruden to come back.

As long as Al Davis is running the show, the Raiders will forever be a bottom feeder in the NFL. Al Davis has no idea how to build and run a team in today's NFL.

They took a huge hit in defensive rankings this week especially in the rushing category against the Giants, but they were I think 18th overall in total defense heading into this week. I'm not calling them elite by any means, but you look at other teams around that mark: Cincinatti, Green Bay, Buffalo, San Francisco, Atlanta, and they're all competing in their games. The difference is that they all have offenses that can put up enough production to complement their defense. Their points differential between offense and defense is almost a hundred points, whereas a team like the 49ers has given up 98 points but has also scored 112 points. Plus everyone always talks about how going three and out wears down a defense, their 3rd down possession is 31st in the NFL and their TOP is dead last, you can't ask a defense to be productive with that kind of play from the offense.

As to how bad they've lost, they lost to the Chargers by 4, beat KC by 3, lost to Denver by 20, lost to Houston by 23, lost to the Giants by 37.

And I wasn't being sarcastic, they have a lot of good defensive players on a bad team. Richard Seymour, Gerrard Warren, Thomas Howard, and Nnamdi Asomugha, not to mention a lot of young, raw talent.

I wasn't referring to you if that's what you thought...

Raiders do have good players, aside from Russel. Their problem is coaching, which has been the case since 2003.

Ah, I see. There was just no reference to who was being sarcastic, and since I posted last I just assumed...

But anyways, Raiders, Superbowl, 2011. Why? Mike Shanahan. I dunno, maybe, but there are some good coaches out there, that they haven't been hired when some of these other coaches have boggles my mind.

Sorry for the confusion. I thought it was clear I was reffering to the TC's "SB run."My bad.

The only way Shanahan goes back to the raiders is if Al dies sometime this year. Unfortunately for Raider fans, Al's mother lived to be over 100. To be honest, I really can't see any other established coach wanting to work under him either.

Sorry, I thought this was one of those "You laugh You Lose" threads. I lost it when you said "They still have a good chance at a Super Bowl run..." :) Jamarcu Russell doesnt' seem like has the brains for a NFL QB. [QUOTE="thequietguy"]

What the Raiders need to do is pull JaMarcus Russell and Darren McFadden(when he gets healthy) aside and flat out tell them: Look, you guys are going to start the rest of the season. I expect to see you improve. If you do not, you are gone. Cut. We will buy you out if we have to. It is your time to decide: to you want to compete? Or make money? Good luck doing either without a job.

I know that won't happen. since Al Davis is still in charge, but that would be the best way to get a fire under these guys.

I agree, but if they haven't gotten the message yet they're never going to. Russel has had how many chances to win the starting position now? ANd he actually played better last year than he has this year. To be fair to McFadden rushing doesn't have to be extremely good in a WC offense, in fact backs function best as hybrid receivers in that system and screens are more prominent than runs up the middle, although I haven't seen him play so I can't comment on how he's doing in either receiving or rushing.

Just look at the stat lines: they are that bad.

The thing with running backs is they are generally expected to dominate from very early on. Its not like QB or WR, where there are a lot of complex routes or audibles to learn. If you have great talent as a runner, you should be able to dominate early on, and if you struggle, it generally means you don't have what it takes. AP was dominate from his first carry. So was Barry Sanders, and Walter Peyton. even guys like Larry Johnson or Shaun Alexander were great from snap one. I don't think McFadden has what it takes.

I wonder what you do if they charge the head coach with some sort of crime during the season? Word has it the assault that occurred amongst the coaches has gone to the D.A. to decide if they should take legal action against Cable.

Raiders might not have the worst record but they are definately the worst team in the NFL...maybe the rams are worse
