[QUOTE="rockguy92"]Are you done defending them one?jiggaloj
I don't think I've been wrong about anything I said about them, save for the predictions. I said JeMarcus Russel could sink or swim and that the team's success depended on it, check. I said they could be competitive within the division, they almost beat the Chargers. I said the defense could keep them in games, the offense just needs to be consistent for them to win, check. I also said they had a tough schedule and they would have to win tough games to make the playoffs, check. I think I was more wrong about the Broncos than I was about the Raiders.
I didn't watch any of the Raider games but didn't they lose by 20+ points during the past three games?
They took a huge hit in defensive rankings this week especially in the rushing category against the Giants, but they were I think 18th overall in total defense heading into this week. I'm not calling them elite by any means, but you look at other teams around that mark: Cincinatti, Green Bay, Buffalo, San Francisco, Atlanta, and they're all competing in their games. The difference is that they all have offenses that can put up enough production to complement their defense. Their points differential between offense and defense is almost a hundred points, whereas a team like the 49ers has given up 98 points but has also scored 112 points. Plus everyone always talks about how going three and out wears down a defense, their 3rd down possession is 31st in the NFL and their TOP is dead last, you can't ask a defense to be productive with that kind of play from the offense.
As to how bad they've lost, they lost to the Chargers by 4, beat KC by 3, lost to Denver by 20, lost to Houston by 23, lost to the Giants by 37.
And I wasn't being sarcastic, they have a lot of good defensive players on a bad team. Richard Seymour, Gerrard Warren, Thomas Howard, and Nnamdi Asomugha, not to mention a lot of young, raw talent.
