Link. Does anyone care about them anymore? I know it was 90 degrees but you would expect a little more people. I wonder how cheap the tickets were...

YET the lowest fan attendance in major league baseball this year is belonged to the Rays. who'da thought that?ChiSoxBombersA couple of things contribute to that: 1. It's just not easy to get to that stadium. It's only easy for people from St. Petersburg to go to Tropicana Field. 2. It's a terrible place to watch a game. It's like watching baseball in a warehouse. The only plus is the fact that the Trane AC system keeps it a steady 72 degrees for gametime. Dolphins Stadium is no great shakes, either, because watching a baseball game in a football stadium isn't that great. But it's a lot better than the Trop.
That is what you get for expanding into areas where you shouldn't, and the MLB wanted to contract the Twins....
The most empty MN Twins game I went to once was on a night where the MN Timberwolves, and MN Wild were playing home playoff games at the same time as the baseball game and they still managed to pull in 10k. Heck they gave score updates about the other games durring the baseball game ;)
that's really a shame. If I were living in florida and I was a marlins fan I would try to sneak down to lower level seats every game, you know the ushers are probably like oh the hell with it lolandyboiii
Who is going to stop you. It doesn't sound like they NEED ushers ;)
Also with those kind of sales you'd think the lower level tickets should be, $5 or something.
and the MLB wanted to contract the Twins....duxup
One of the strangest efforts imaginable. Sure, the Twins were in the lower third of attendance, but they were still doubling the ticket sales of either Florida team at the time.

Selig a number of years back got a big low interest loan funneled thru several banks from the Twin's owner Pohlad, and MLB owners were going essentially to buy the Twins from Pohlad at twice the market value in order to contract the team.
MLB also wanted to make a point about how they'll move or eliminate a team if the locals don't build a stadium when they ask.
I live 20 minutes from the stadium and never go. Though I'm not a baseball fan.
I only have a few friends that actually like baseball at all. Another thing I think that bothers the more hardcore fans, both times the Marlins won the World Series, management gut the team. Now, I'm not keeping up with them, but do they have any big names on the team anymore? Any single player to draw out a few more people to watch em play?
Well Hanley Ramirez and Dan Uggla were both all-stars...I live 20 minutes from the stadium and never go. Though I'm not a baseball fan.

Yeah they arguably have the most powerful infield in all of baseball: Uggla at 2B with 29 homers, Hanley at SS with 29 Homers, Mike Jacobs at 1B with 28 homers, and Cantu at 3B with 23 Homers. That is absolutely astounding, seeing as most second basemen and shortstops in the MLB dont hit much for power.
Clearly saving their money for Panthers pre-season.syztemThat's pretty good the Flordia Miami area pro sports is Pathetic
