I can't even watch ESPN without something negative occuring in pro sports. Right now the NBA is in the point shaving incident, then my second favorite NFL player (Michael Vick) is indicted on dogfighting charges. Baseball still has the steroids case looming over mainly because of Barry Bonds and him being maybe 5 games from breaking the record.

Another thing that bothers me is how most of the popular athletes(NFL and NBA)grew up poor and all this other stuff. They don't seem to cherish the fact they had a chance. They just mindlessly do the dumbest things possible, then when they are given chance after chance they STILL don't change.

I get sick of constantly hearing about off the field issues. Why can't more people focus about whats happening in sports more? Like for the NBA people think of it as a "thug league" but thats only because of what Artest did, the product on the court is as good as ever.

Does it really matter what they're saying on ESPN about all this crap. Just wait an extrra 5 minutes and watch the rest of the show.

You're right. How dare those poor people get more money! I'd say the opposite is true. Those who were brought up spoiled don't know how to spend money, while those who grew up poor know the value of a dollar.

Just because a select few(Pac-Man, etc) are morons, doesn't mean they all are -- the majority know what they're doing, but are overshadowed by the idiots. "Warrick Dunn donating money to charity" isn't as good of a news story as "Pac-Man Jones involved in shooting outside strip club".

You're stereotyping most NBA players based on what a minority of them do. If you allow yourself to get too wrapped up in what the media says then you become paranoid. That's why we have stereotyping of races and genders because of the stereotypes that are perpetrating by the television and the media.

And there have been other players in baseball who have used steroids, not just Bonds.

I hate to break it to you but these things have always occured in professional sports be it hockey, baseball ect.

I also think that scandals happen in Canadian, European and Australian leagues too, you just don't hear about it.

Exactly. The stuff doesn't take up a ton of the time and if just ignore it you can see the good stuff!

This is true. The amount of "bad dudes" in professional sports is pretty low. I'd say 90% have everything in check, and maybe 10% don't. But you're not gonna hear about the 90%.

espn exists because people are interested in everything about a given sport. I watch espn daily. I think it is far better than turning on fox news or cnn and getting that genre of news thrown in my face. an important thing to remember about a few of these idiots is that getting paid millions of dollars a year to play sports does not make you any smarter as a human being. i think its pathetic that some of these guys cant get themselves together enough to stay out of the headlines for a week. Adam Pacman Jones does not deserve to be on my tv set. nor play professional football. im sick of watching what he did this week or why his lawyer says he is innocent. vick is probably guilty. and hopefully this nba ref scandal doesnt end up having more than one nba associate involved. all in all, i love my espn, and im sick of seeing pacman and somewhat vick in the headlines.

Its a very slow time in sports right now...just July baseball is up right now, so EPSN has to report 24/7 about 'other' things to fill there slots. I'm not saying that those stories aren't a big deal, but they're going to be shoved down our throats as long as there is nothing really going on in actual sports. Let the NFL and college football get started, and we'll talking more about sports, then controversy, and those other stories will take a back seat while the actual investigations take place.

Well, when you think about it, many of the world sports are under some sort of fire as well. European Football has its hooliganism. Cycling's performance enhancing prolems makes Baseball's problem look like a joke. Even Formula 1 has the scandal of Stephenygate, where 2 top Ferrari and McLaren Mercedes members are being investigated for collusion. (To sum it up for NASCAR fans, it's like someone from Hendrick giving setups to someone in RCR).
