Impressive eh? And here we had people saying they wouldn't compete with the West

Filling in with Kevin Garnett and Kendrick Perkins injured, Davis had nine points and eight rebounds for Boston. Paul Pierce scored 35 points, Ray Allen had 19, and Rajon Rondo had 12 assists and 11 rebounds Sunday as the Celtics won their third straight game improved to 16-0 against the Western Conference.

Impressive win against the Mavs and Spurs, now that Garnett should be back after the All-Star game the team will get a huge boost.

Guess we'll have to wait and see who wins when they play again March 17 in San Antonio. Parker and Garnett should be back by then.

Celts vs. the west has been the biggest surprise of the season IMO. Beating the Mavs and Spurs without KG, easily taking down the Lakers twice while rendering Bynum a non-factor, and flat out embarassing the Nuggets and Warriors. Their two closest games against the conference have come against the Timberwolves. It's great for bragging rights but it's also not really relevant because we're going to have to go through Cleveland and Detroit before we need to worry about the west, and those are two teams that have beaten the C's (albeit in very close contests).

Interesting, so they've lost to the Pistons and Cavaliers, but not the Spurs or Mavs :? Looks like they'll win it all.

At first everyone (my self included) thought the Cs would be 3 big stars and a bunch of nothing else. The 2nd string and the younger players have really stepped up. Any Celts win could be as much the doing of Rondo, Davis, Powe, and any one else on the team (except Scalabrine), as it could be the doing of the Big 3

It is easy to beat western teams when the Celtics are coasting in the east. They hardly try against East teams(that is why they lose to east teams) and when a west team comes they have full energy compared to a west team that is getting beat up day in and day out in the west. San Antonio has the hardest division and the West is so strong that even being number 1 right now, means a 6 game losing streak puts you out. Celtics are going to win the title mostly because whatever West team they face is going to drained. But they will still have to fight in the finals. Expect the Lakers to be there because that is what stern wants.

Impressive yes, but as I've learned from the Superbowl and previous NBA seasons, winning stat lines means absolutely nothing. I do think the C's will go all the way though.

Very impressive; I had no idea. It's just too bad that the Lakers won't get another shot at them once Bynum gets back. I guess we'll have to wait until the finals.

Doesn't really matter. The real season for the Spurs begin in the post season. Unless they're in trouble, then they wake up a bit early. I want to see how the Spurs play late in the year.

I still think they will win it all. It's amazing how most teams give it their all and can't come close to the post season and the Spurs year in and year out coast through and save energy b/c the post season is a given.

Very impressive, but I still say the regular season means nothing. I think they'll get to the finals easy as the only real threats in the East are Detroit and Lebron James, I'm thinking they'll get by them easier than most people think.

Yeah KG was out but so was Parker. Now feel free to disagree, but I find Parker to be far more critical to the Spurs offense than KG is to the Celtics.

Regardless, Spurs are a playoff team. Now the Celtics are surprising but the East can be tight in the Playoffs (Cleveland, Detroit). The playoff experience despite having the BIG 3 is limited vs a well versed Spurs Dynasty.

So we'll see come playoff time, but there's no doubt that the Celtics will change the face of the Eastern conference playoffs, and that their regular season thus far is nothing short of impressive.

True, but Parker isnt the best defensive player on the Spurs like KG is to the Celtics. Not to mention the Celtics were also missing KP, their starting Center, so they didnt have one person over 6'8 playing. And no playoff experience? Paul Pierce led his team to the ECF alone, and KG and Allan have all had great playoff expiriences. Not to mention Posey has a ring, and Scals has also been to the ECf...

For the Celtics sake, I seriously hope Veal's ECF experience is not sometheing we're going to be relying on come playoffs.:D

Tony parker is the leader of our offense though, like hes the engine. Im not sure about KG because I dont watch Celtics games but, they have 2 huge players that can win games without Each other. 3 franchise players, 1 team. Not tryiing to insult, thot id throw it out.

It's almost as impressive as 18-1.

How come no one mentions the Suns vs the Eastern Conference? I guess I'll start a new topic.

Every team has a chance of beating any team on any given night. Ask the Golden State Warriors...or better yet, ask the Suns :? they sure have had their share of bad losses this year...And by the way who ever said RA is a franchise player, guess again. Hes a bench play imo

So...Ginobili scoring 46 points against Cleveland makes him a chump and Duncan being the most valuable defensive player on this team night and out and the fact that Spurs start offense with Duncan means that he's a chump too. Oh yeah, PARKER FTW!!!! So GOOOD!!!! LMAO. One of the best PF in NBA history. It's an insult to compare him to Parker. Please. It's like saying you rather have parker over Duncan.

Yeah but keep in mind that Garnett and Perkins were both out and they play solid defense and grab rebounds and block shots. And Garnett especially is in fact a big scoring factor for the Celtics.

The Celtics Being 16-0 against the West is really impressive, but they have two absolutely brutal road trips coming up:

This week they play:

Tue, Feb 19 @ Denver
Wed, Feb 20 @ Golden State
Fri, Feb 22 @ Phoenix
Sun, Feb 24 @ Portland
Mon, Feb 25 @ LA Clippers

That's a rough stretch, but nothing when compared to what they face in March:

Sat, Mar 15 @ Milwaukee
Mon, Mar 17 @ San Antonio
Tue, Mar 18 @ Houston
Thu, Mar 20 @ Dallas
Sat, Mar 22 @ New Orleans

I think the Celtic record against the West is impressive, but they have not gotten to a lot of the truly difficult road games. Let's see how they do on these trips before we hand them the title.
