both teams acquired the two best player in this years draft K. Durant to Seattle and G. Oden to Blazers, do you think they can beat the team like Spurs, Mavs and Suns when they meet in playoffs?

I can see them as contenders in a couple of years but lets remember where they are playing; the Western Conference. 42 wins in the western conference gets you 8th place. They have to play teams like the Spurs, Suns, Mavs, Jazz, Warriors, and Rockets a good amount. If they were in the Eastern Conference they'd be playoff teams next year no doubt but the Western Conference is just too stacked with talent. They are on the right track though, both teams have a young and talented group of guys who are going to turn into great players.

Look at the LeBrons. They arguably had a better supporting cast than the Blazers and Sonics(but not by much), and the Spurs wiped the floor with 'em. The Sonics and Blazers are both a few years away.

In the West, it takes a team to win, not superstars surrounded by mediocrity. Don't believe me? Look at what happened to the Lakers this year, and the Cavs, once they went up against a Western team.

The Blazers and Sonics aren't anywhere CLOSE to championship contenders. They're soooo young and they don't have enough key players to be one of the best teams in the league.

The Blazers and Sonics wont EVER be championship contenders until they get some better players on their team. Oden and Durant are good players but they won't be carrying their team to a championship. Those two teams need to get better players before we can see them as championship contenders. We'll see the moves the GM's make for their teams in the future.

It all depends on the coaching and front office moves. Those two things determine wether a team is good enough to be a championship contender or not.

But again....with the teams Durant and Oden are on now.....they aren't anywhere close to a championship. Infact I doubt both those teams will even make the playoffs next year or even the year after that.

Spurs and Suns=Elite teams

It doesnt matter if they were the best players in the draft. they are still rookies, no less in the West. Seattle is far away from contention, Blazers have the potential to get into the second round, however there is no way the make it to the western finals considering suns and spurs will be either the #1 or #2 seed, so they would have to get past either of those teams which nobody is on that level yet.

no way in hell are they championship contenders, people forget that they are in the west the strongest conference, i'll give Oden 5 years to be dominating and Durant will dominate in a couple years but no way can he take the sonics to the championship or even the finals, they are just too young and inexperienced right now

Maybe the Sonics, but the Blazers don't. I bet you a team of Roy, Jack, Aldrige and Oden with a couple of role players(not better players) can win maybe the Title in 5 years or so.

I like what the Blazers did drafting Oden and trading for Francis, and Frye so maybe there contenders. But Seattle lost Allen and Lewis so they may not even make the playoffs for another 2 or 3 years.

Sonics, not even close, one player doesn't make a difference, unless that player is Lebron or Kobe.

Blazers, yes, if not this season, then the next.

Just finished watching the summer league game of Seattle vs Dallas and Dallas routed them. Durant looked like a tall Gilbert Arenas and Jeff Green just fouled a lot (8 fouls, I don't think you foul out in summer league play). This team needs a lot of work and it'll be awhile before they're title contenders. Durant only got ONE REBOUND against Dallas which featured Diop.

We'll see about Portland later tonight.

These teams are extremely young, it will most likely be awhile. If I had to bet on one, it'd be Portland sooner than Seattle.

No. I would expect Portland to maybe fight for a #8 seed in the West, and I would put money on Seattle having the worst record in the league next year. But in a few years I expect them to be a lot better...
