To get D.Ho the Lakers will probably have to trade Bynum, Brown, and two draft picks. Orlando wants none of the Laker's old players if they plan to rebuild.LoserMike
Yea because Bynum and Brown are old players
Orlando might not be able to get a better deal than what the Lakers can offer. Hell they might throw Pau's soft ass in there with the way he's been playing.
Next off season not this one. Orlando will probably try to trade him instead of getting nothing ala Carmello. He's a free agent in the 2012 off season. He signed a 5 year extension in '07.^ you guys know dwights a free agent right ????

I actually agree, from what I seen of Bynum he is actually pretty good and a top 5 center in the league when healthy. They need a young pg and sg (since Kobe is getting up there in age). The Lakers needs a point guard. Not a center, they have already Bynum FFS.
Darth_Revan_666
This. I would LOVE a good PG on the court. Not Tony Parker, want someone a little younger, he isn't old but it isnt to many years before he is.The Lakers needs a point guard. Not a center, they have already Bynum FFS.
Darth_Revan_666
Why go all out for a PG when the triangle offense doesn't even need a PG that gets crazy assist numbers. The Lakers needs a point guard. Not a center, they have already Bynum FFS.

Derek Fisher stinks. Doesn't matter if you scheme him out of the offensive gameplan.

Uhh.. that's why I said the Lakers would have to trade Bynum and Brown because they're the only young players other than the two rookies that the lakers have. Orlando doesn't want Pau because he's old and has a massive contract. If Dwight is a free agent, the only way the Lakers can get him is if they pull a sign-and-trade since the Lakers are way over the cap, unless Dwight wants to play for the minimum. Which means Bynum, somebody worth $3 million and some draft picks to Orlando.^ you guys know dwights a free agent right ????

[QUOTE="Darth_Revan_666"]Why go all out for a PG when the triangle offense doesn't even need a PG that gets crazy assist numbers. I think he means any PG other than Fish and Blake. Basically the lakers just need the Bruce Bowen version of a PG. A PG that's a great defender that could hit open 3s. He doesn't need to be a good scorer/passer. There's never actually been a good scorer/passer in Phil's championship teams. They were all really good defenders and 3 point shooters or floppers. The Lakers needs a point guard. Not a center, they have already Bynum FFS.

Only way for LA to get Dwight is to trade Bynum and whatever else. But Bynum is out either way if they get Howard.who said dwight has to play the 5 he can play the 4 ...no. Every 4 with a jump shot, which nowadays is every PF, will drag Howard out the paint. Could Howard guard Dirk/Aldriage out on the perimeter? Doubtful, but even if he could it gets rid of his biggest asset which is defending the rim. Also Howard himself is not a good jump shooter, so have him and Bynum in the game would lead to terrible spacing.[QUOTE="Darth_Revan_666"]

Lol Dwight wants to go somwhere that will give him a chance to win championships.
The Lakers have no young talent besides Bynum (which they would be trading).
Kobe is getting too old.
I'd love to see Dwight team up with Durant in OKC.
A package involving Westbrook, Perkins, and draft picks..

OKC is fine, trading Westbrook would just weaken the team.If Lakers still continue to use the triangle offense with the new coach, then there's no need to get a PG. A powerful Center and an SG will do, and Lakers already have one of those spots covered (SG with Bryant). They need a C of Dwight's power and unfortunately, it will be probably Bynum + Artest, Brown, or Barnes or some of them for Dwight. I hate seeing Bynum go. He's one of my favorite player son that team and played with a ton of heart :(fighter91Yea, if he can get past the injuries he can be a special player. LA just doesn't have time with Kobe getting old. They wanna win as many as they can before he retires.
first lakers have bynum and shanon brown what made you keep shanon out of the talent sayingLol Dwight wants to go somwhere that will give him a chance to win championships.

Get real, Shannon Brown is a role player, nothing more. With Phil Jackson leaving, I don't see this team as a championship team even with Dwight. In fact, the only thing Dwight would do is disrupt their chemistry. The sentiment that the team is old is a very real one. Five of their best players Artest, Kobe, Fisher, Gasol and Odom are all getting old. Dwight isn't going to leave his team to go to an aging one. Where should Dwight go? He could go to a young team that needs an inside presence like the Thunder. But it's a risk going to any team like that because you risk destroying the teams chemistry. A team that plays solid team basketball like the Nuggets would be a could destination although maybe not the popular one. I do think he'll be OK if he stay put though. The Magic made the mistake of trying to fix what wasn't broken and they ruined their team. But a couple of good moves here and there and they're back into the Finals discussion.Get real, Shannon Brown is a role player, nothing more. The Thunder already have Perkins as an inside presence. They dont truly need him. But the Knicks are in a desperate need for defense and would without a doubt help in that area. But the thing is, he could whereever he wants to go and for a lot of money. So its a bit silly to speculate now. Im convinced he'll leave the Magic though.

The notion that Perkins is anywhere close to the player that Dwight is, is absurd. Do they NEED him? Not really. But from a talent perspective, their inside game is their weakest point and Dwight would theoretically complete them. There's more to it than that, of course, but the ways that NBA teams are operating these days tells me that they won't care. Going to the Knicks will be a mistake. 'Melo and STAT are not gelling, especially with Billups there. Introducing another big time player in there instead of role players is a big mistake. There was an interesting statistic with the Knicks I saw awhile back. With 2 out of the 3 injured (Billups, Melo and STAT), the Knicks were a better offensive AND defensive team. With all three of them in, they were horrendous. Even 2 out of the 3 being available they were still playing poor basketball. Dwight will not help them. I still think the Nuggets are the best place for Dwight. They're missing a few pieces but they have a solid young team (Gallinari, J.R. Smith, Chandler, Felton) and a solid group of role players (Nene, Harrington, Kenyon Martin, Andersen). They could be a force with someone on the inside like Dwight.Like many other posters, I agree that the Lakers need a SG or PG more than Dwight. However, its always a risk with Bynum because of injuries. If the Lakers could get CP3 or Deron (you know he hates NJ), than we would be set for a championship. The Lakers also need to put more emphasis on the draft. After Bynum, the Lakers really haven't done anything with the Draft in recent years.
Another thing is the bench. It went from being stellar to awful this year. Steve Blake has been nothing but a 12th man. Our only good consistent production is in Shannon Brown and Lamar. When we had Trevor Ariza and Sasha and Jordan Farmar, we had the best bench in the league hands down.

This was the year of stupid trades. Perkins to OK, stupid Boston, disrupted their Team chemistry. Perkins and Rando are actually best friends in real life. Orlando trade was terrible as well. And I'm not even going to talk about the Knicks. Like Bynum, Amari are players that are troubled with injuries. Just when they seem to get better at their game, and getting healthy again, they go back to square one.
Lakers definitely need a great point guard, and they need a good backup point guard. Steve Blake made no offensive contribution this year, let alone, defensively. Doesn't know how to make plays happen, and is more like a filler than anything. A bad one at that. Derek Fisher, well, he's only getting older. His major flaw is that he's a terrible defensive player.

I doubt he has the power to trade himself to them.
