It is way to early, like at this time of the year last year, a majority would have picked the Sens in the Finals, but look what happend 2nd half of the season. Anyway, Ill just say, Detroits looking good, San Jose, and I don't count out the Ducks. From the east Rangers, Pens, and Sabres.
Let's just forget about the best team in the league, right. If I had to guess right now I'd say the Rangers will face San Jose and the Rangers will win in 6. I may be biased but it's a strong argument considering how good the Rangers are this year. In the past 12 seasons Cup winners had stellar starts. The Rangers at minimum will go to the conference finals. We're damn good this year and so far it looks like we have the fundamentals of a championship team. If you want to live on the edge a really good sleeper pick is Buffalo though.

When the Rangers won in 94 they finished October 7-5 so anybody can win it.

I'm not saying a good October gaurentees a cup but according to recent years a good start is a decent indication of possible championship success.
History also shows most teams that win the president's trophy they end of not winning the Cup. Just ignore last year for a second and lets go back the prior4 years--Detroit won it 3 times and Buffalo once and neither won the Cup. Rangers won it in 92 and got bounced by Pitt in the 2nd round. I think it is a curse to have the best record...lol
I can't say because if/when sundin and shanahan sign, they will change everything.indian_playa
Sundin is not going to sign with Ottawa. He'll come back to the Leafs if he is going to come back.
Anyways i'm gonna pick the Edmonton Oilers in 7 against Montreal.

i didn't mean sign with us. We can't afford him, or shanahan. Ottawa needs to spend their money on a stable goalie.
but back to topic. which ever teams can sign these guys will get a massive boost in the standing, shifting everything. and since everyone knows having a good record means nothing in the post season, anything can happen (or in other words, we can't predict anything right now)

I didn't realize playing a bunch of sub-500 teams were the fundamentals of a championship team.
lightning x 2
blackhawks
flyers on their crappy run
maple leafs
devils(okay one)
blue jackets
islanders
pens in a shootout
thrashers
Some real good wins eh?

That's my argument against the Rangers as well. They haven't had to prove anything yet. Also, next game you'll have to change the lightning to 3x on the Rangers list....we haven't even gotten to play them once.
I don't know if the Devils just played like garbage yesterday, or if Buffalo is really that good. Kevin Weekes stood on his head in place of Marty, and the Devils didn't even help him out. It always pisses me off when someone shows up to play, and plays well. And the rest of the team pulls up pillows and blankets for nap time.
No excuses though, I take no credit away from Buffalo, they played a hell of a game, and we didn't compete. Outshot us 21-3 in the first period alone. They won 2-0 it should have been more like 10-0. I'm going to keep an eye on them, whoever said they were a sleeper hit could very well be right.

Buffalo is that good. Miller is playing the best I have seen him play. Weekes will not get it done though as I posted in the other thread. They are gonna have to bring someone up.
Also, no team has really had any time to prove anything yet.
I think it will be all Canadian finals. Flames vs Habs.Flames in seven games.1989 All over again.pookie2232
Flames won in 6 that year. I can't forget since I was on a Med Cruise and won a ton of money to use overseas as we hit different ports. They came back for me down 2-1.
The Wings will repeat, they are just too deep to be beat in a playoff series.
DaBrainz
The way they limped into the playoffs I thought they were gonna be out round 1. I guess they were one huge surprise for me and the other was the Sharks getting beat by a Dallas team that Turco wasn't even playing that hot entering the playoffs.

Yeah they were fortunate to have some key players back from injury right before they smacked down Nashville (Cleary, Lindstrom, Hasek) but they were also riding a 8-1 streak into the first round.
[QUOTE="Mau-Justice"]Hossa is a bandwagon jumping jinx. I just can't see Detroit winning this year. I think San Jose has a better argument.Dracula68You know Hossa is gonna be doing this constantly (1 year deals) until he finally wins a Cup.
Well in Europe players don't really give a damn where they play. It's not like they feel they need to belong to a team forever. Also I don't see how the Wings could keep Hossa because you know they will sign Zetterberg and that pretty much means Hossa has a 10% chance of sticking around.
Toronto Maple Leafs beat the Edmonton Oilers in a game 7 overtime shoot out!Lostboy1224
