Vikings were down by 4 and Favre had a drive sputter due to his generally poor passing (all day it seemed). The Vikings held the 49ers in their own end and after a punt had the ball with ~1:26 left and NO timeouts. As if on queue Favre drives down the field for a game winning TD with 2 seconds left... :o

Here is the play that won it (NFL does a good job with their videos now, very nice).

I want to cry. If only we didn't lose Frank Gore on the first play.

The Niners always seem to find a way to lose...T_T

The Niners didn't lose that game, they got beat. You can say what you want about Gore being out but the VIkings were not on their A game as well. That last drive was crazy, especially the last play. PERECT throw + catch.

that last throwing was amazing. The whole game was awsome to watch. I'm still shocked the Vikings won. At first I thought the receiver was going to be out of bounds, but when I saw the replay, wow...just amazing job by the wide receiver to keep his feet in bounds.

I duno, after that second to last Vikings drive died on 4th down the 49ers lined up in run run run and only run formation and IMO played WAY too conservatively. You don't want to give up a turnover but all they needed was one first down and Hill had played well but they took the ball from him. The runs were even way predictable.

How Willis stayed in bounds is beyond me. His foot was like a millimeter away from the line

That's why they got Favre. A good game for both teams. Will these two teams meet again? What an awesome game. :) The Jets game was good too.

But that was the idea. Waste Min's timeouts and give them the ball back on the 20 yard line with a minue to go. Let your defense win the game. As you said, Favre had been off most of the game. They thought they could stop him. Looking back at it now yeah, the 49ers should have gone for a pass. But that's football.

I think you gotta at least try for a first down even a safe QB roll out or something silly. Hill played really well but they took the ball away from him and one first down would have sealed it. That irks me like a prevent defense. I'm sure Mike didn't know but any Vikings fan (you too) knows Favre doesn't have to have a good day to come back and beat you. Heck when he stank it up he still could do it. Often that was why the games were close ;)

I know, I think hedoes it on purpose:lol: It feels so good to watch Favre play when he's not on your team. Games like this are great for people like me but are heart-attack worthy for Vikings fans. And get used to it, it will happen all season. I can not tell you how many times he made me pull my hair out when he played for GB.

And you're right, they should have tried something else. But I don't think because of that one drive you can say the 49ers "lost" the game for themselves.

The saddest thing about today is that this is the first time Brad Childress has had a 300 yard QB. He was hired in 2006 :|

Yeah well he likes to run and has a team setup to do so and the OLine has just never been about the blocking. They don't even bother with much Peterson play action because at least last year he couldn't block... What surprised me is with as stinky a day as Favre had... he made it to 300. That stat at the end of the game had me scratching my head.

He works out now, but take it from a Packers fan, he will collapse. On a happier note, I'm sure being 3-0 and sole division leaders will stop any "Schism" that still exists.

Ha if Rosenfels or Jackson were even playing, the Vikings wouldn't have been in that position to win.

You're telling me that in 2009 Brett Favre is better than at least one of these three?

Well watching the game prior to the pass i couldnt imagine Favre making that throw either, nor seeing him play the previous games, he hasnt been very Favre-esque with the exception of that phenomenal pass at the end. Big ups to Favre though but let's see him play good consistently when teams take out the running game.

I was talking about this year, which is why I made sure to add the "2009". :P But even for all-time I think Peyton and Brady are better.

Oh even as a Vikings fan I think there is a good chance he'll get hurt. I know the dude's history but he's old and getting hit a lot. I'd say 50/50 chance he gets knocked out of at least a few games or the season at some point.

Agreed, then again while it would hurt alot, we wouldn't be doomed without him. I am really excited for the Vikes this year, so much so that I going to a game for the first time in three years now.

Favre has an ironman streak going. I highly doubt it will be broken, even at a brittle 40 years old.

Did you see where he threw it? About 20 yards in front of Lewis. The catch was great, but Favre threw a strike.

"Brett is like 55 years old" Well I guess they didn't dump a WR to pickup Lewis for his smarts ;) That is a great video too. The look on the face for the 49er on the sideline was pretty good too.
