I'm not a D-backs fan, but I am a brewers fan and after watching Jeff Cirillo come up to pitch in tonight's game, I was wondering... Anyone else know any well known hitters in baseball that also pitched from time to time? It seemed wierd, but it was funny too.

never seen it happen but its been done before of course. I remember last year The 5 game series between Sox and Yanks The sox were struggling with pitchers and they were about to use Alex Cora but it didnt happen.

Well Babe Ruth was a pitcher first, but I'm sure that's not what you mean.

I seem to remember the D'backs putting Mark Grace on the mound a few times when they needed to. Quite the comic relief.

Hah! I think he qualifies more as a bellyitcher than a pitcher, and that's being nice.

Yeah, I remember that too. One time he did his Fetters impression and was breathing heavily, that was hilarious. As for the question, I'm sure if the Cardinals were desperate Rick Ankiel could come in and pitch. I don't know if he would count since he was a pitcher before hand, but that was the first name that came to mind. Another name that comes to mind is Wade Boggs. He pitched in two games during his career and supposedly had a decent knuckleball.
