I just picked it up for the 360, and I'm currently having the same problem. I'm using the Italian national team against Colchester (and last night I lost 4-2...and put a header in my own goal....) One solution I've found is to practice...practice...practice in Be-A-Pro mode, which allows you to learn all of the trick moves while viewing them in action, as well as view the action up the pitch (or down the pitch, depending on your position) without having to actively participate. Also, Be-A-Pro mode online is also helpful in the same way, and you can get feedback as well (though, putting it in your own goal in an online match won't get you any constructive criticism). In all the reviews I read, this game was called extremely difficult, and the learning curve is rather steep, so...practice. Also, stop caring about winning these first few matches, I did, and my offense keeps getting better and better. Focus on one portion of the game, rather than the game in its entirety. This is the first football game I've owned since way back in the late 90's, and it's challenging as hell. The last time I played a football game, the idea of choosing between different types of passes and crosses, and length of passes and crosses, was absurd. It just didn't exist. Neither did the trick moves. I think you could spin, and that's where it ended. Even though I'm having trouble, I just keep playing, and get better step by step man. Last night I actually SCORED with style on a cross, which was my first "wow I just owned" moment. Maybe tonight I'll actually be able to win. Also, now that I think about, I'm going to try to find another inexperienced player to practice online with, maybe you should as well.

Yes...practice. That is, get an astounding team, and play against a horrendous team, and avoid caring about whether or not the opposing team gets a goal. You know, you can do a lot of things with a lot of different programs, including video games, which are not specifically listed in the menu, right? You just reinterpret the possibilities of what you are given. Yes, it would have been nice to have a practice option on the field with two sides which you can control, or with one team and one goalie, because kicking the ball around with a goalie doesn't really cut it.

Let me help both of you. First Practice creating plays and Second learn to use the left trigger or L2. You will see how much control you have of the ball.

Practice. If you have a PSN ID play me. If you can beat me then you're officially good.

Pass the ball arond when you in a game; dont go for mission runs every time your favourite player gets the ball; thats what i do and i get hammerd online and offline.

Yeah, I made that mistake the first couple games. This isn't one of the old football games. You quickly find out that there sure as hell isn't an "I" in "team." Regardless of which player's got the ball. I found that long passes are rarely a good idea, and short passes and short through passes are key.

Try using different styles of attack im hopeless at crosses i dont win many headers but i will still try them just to mix things up because if you try the same thing over and over the computer notices that and makes it tougher for you well i think so but if you keep mixing it up you can exploit those defences for a lot longer. The other thing is try different types of passes i never do long cross field passes except for in defence and not getting preassured also using the long ground pass is very useful for opening up space but the pass you should definately learn to master is the through ball especially if you can play a quick passing style it completely carves defences open but you need fast strikers to get the most out of it. Lastly dont constantly sprint everywhere just changing players a lot of the time will put you in a better position to challenge for the ball without sprinting of course if the opponent is through on goal then you will need to sprint to catch up but for the most part it does eliminate the need to sprint and if you can get the passing game going to can completely tire the opponent out by the 70th minute giving you an easy last part of the game to go and get some goals.

In summary vary your attacks, try to master various passes especially short and through balls and reserve your energyfor the last part of a game.

One last thing practice on world class not amateur you will get slaughtered for the first few games but in the long run you will be a better player
