A lot of the coding is already there in Madden. They already have the create a player function and create a team function. They have Online Mode too. Coding for the draft part of it is easy as they already have a draft in their superstar mode. Making a leaderboard is easy. I know it would take a few years but they could do itMaddenOnlinePLZyes, they could do it. but it wouldn't sell.
Similar concept, albeit with really poor execution is goal line blitz. Â At this point the game is basically dying, Â They're giving away players yet the userbase is a fraction of what it was 3-4 years ago but it's got some of the things you mentioned (team management, player creation, in-game purchasables/upgrades, promotion/demotion of teams, 16 game/32 team schedules) but it just didn't work in practice. Â The simulation was constantly buggy and needed constant in-season updates to fix. Â Parity was incredibly rare (100-point blowouts were far more common than one-score games). Â Player building became a chore due to the instance to do it by the book. Â Though above all it was nearly impossible to get any sort of continuity, every season at least a few owners per league would go AWOL leaving their teams to lose 200+-0, which greatly frusturated a high percentage of players causing them to forget about the game completely.
