I'm starting to think so. He is always injured and doesn't play well in big games. Is he overrated?

Yes. He has lost most of his mobility, he is injury prone and doesnt have most of the basics he used to. Time for the bengals to move on.

I don't think so. Injuries have been a problem because of poor pass protection, and its not like he is surrounded by weapons. And Carson Palmer has played in very few "big games" because his team is almost never in them.

I don't think he will live up to his potential however: I think he should get out of Cincy ASAP.

I don't think he's overrated, but then again I never thought he was a really good QB.
He's used to be a top 5 QB a few years back, but his body seems to be ageing fast + he plays for the Bengals....

Why single out Carson Palmer like this? More than a few high rated QBs fell flat on their face this year. May I suggest Eli Manning of the overpaid Giants? Or maybe even the flat on his back Culter of the Chicago who-Cares. Palmer had a lot of things going against him this year preventing him from putting up the numbers he has the last six years. The biggest problem is the OC known simply as Brat. Horrible, horrible predictable play calling this year while being not protected by a rookie OLine coupled with a run first offense really got him off track. If a few key changes are made in the off season all of you doubters and nay-sayers will be eating your overrated words I promise you that.

Oh, and it's really amusing to me how the Bengals go to the playoffs for the first time since 05 and all of a sudden he's overrated. You all must have no short term memory and non-existent attention spans since CP drove his team to 4 comeback wins while trailing in the 4th quarter (Pittsburgh TWICE before they imploded and Baltimore who just crushed the Patriots just to name a few). If every QB who slips up a few games is overrated then the NFL needs to clear house across the board.

Simply put, there's never been nor ever will be love and respect for Cincy.

Ever since he was injured in that playoff game against the Steelers, he hasn't been the same. He's still an above-average QB though.

1 deep threat and the rest of your recieving core being garbage, coupled with a team that should be running the ball makes any QB look really bad. He is terrible yes, but not nearly as terrible as most people think. Id say he was a below average QB, with some Almost good moments thrown in about 1-2 times per season.

I think he's still a really good QB, but he lost a step or two after that injury to Pittsburgh a few years back in the playoffs. Before that he was putting up Brady/Manning-esque numbers. He's not the QB he was, but you can still win with him.

Eli actually had one of his best years statistically this year. He wasn't the problem with the Giants this year.

Yep. He set career bests in total yards thrown, completions, completion %, touchdowns and QB rating. How exactly did he "fall flat on his face" again?

Because Eli plays every position on the field, right? He wasn't the problem this year, and anyone who puts the blame solely on him needs to get their head checked. :|

Your aware that the defense was the problem with the Giants right? Eli not only did his job, but did a damn good job of it, all with an extremely young receiving corps.

That O-line needs to be fixed. He doesn't have time, and he doesn't have the mobility to pull it off. Now if that O-line was better, I would call him overrated. He had some fun comebacks this year against the Packers, Ravens, and Steelers. Now if he pulls this kind of mediocre play next year, then yes I'd call him overrated.

Eli Manning is the only man responsible for that running game not being remotely close to as good as it was last year, and that defense not being able to stop anyone? Eli also had a damn good year with a new receiving corp. He's not even remotly close to being the reason for blame. Not when your defense gives up 80+ points in the final 2 weeks of the year.

and gave up 80. They were down by a large margin early in the game. How again is that Eli's fault? He's overpaid maybe, overrated? Hell no. NO one thinks very highly of him as it is. I think people give Eli too much credit because his last name is Manning. If he wins another superbowl then maybe I wont consider him to be incredibly overrated.

Sometimes certain players never come back from a serious knee injury and play the way they did before being injured. So far it seems like Palmer hasn't been the same player since he got hurt. He was beyond inaccurate passing the ball vs the Jets in the playoffs... and looks pretty average now as a QB.

He's a good QB, you get what you see. I will admit he's limited based on his receiving core and his coach. I don't know how he puts up with such an annoying wide receiver in Chad Ochocinco

In the last 2 games he was extremely horrible. I still have no idea what happened since normally he is right on the money. He isnt nearly as good at Peyton Manning but when he is on he is "somewhat" close lol and really the best QB the Bengals have had in probably a decade.

Considered my ass. He is top 10.

How is he overrated, no one thinks very highly of him anyway. He's still the inferior manning He's not even consideered the best QB from his draft. The only thing one can say is that he took advantage of a New York Based team and got paid.

Because thats what NY teams do. WE PAY our players to the freakin high heavens.

He doesn't get nearly the amount of praise that Peyton, Brees, Brady, Rothlisberger, Favre, Rivers, Aaron Rodgers, or at times even Tony Romo or Kurt Warner get, and I would much rather have Eli than say Carson Palmer, Joe Flacco, Matt Ryan, Jay Cutler, Matt Hasselback, and so many others.

Eli this year did it with young receivers, a running game that wasn't the same, a defense that stunk up the show, and some injuries to boot. He's improving, and I see him being the reason the Giants make it back into the playoffs next season.
