Nah it's getting way less violent. Did any body every see this injury (Warning a lot of blood) http://youtube.com/watch?v=GyKHC8ejyag
Hockey was WAY worse than this 30 years ago, in terms of violence - you had players who would purposely take others out; fights used to be much longer, even 10 years ago. The KO punch was a cheap shot, but people have been getting knocked out on the ice for a long time.VERS1ONI agree with ur sig..BUD!
ever seen Slap Shot...hockeyruler12
Eddie Shore, old time hockey.

you don't see this anymore.
[QUOTE="duxup"]There have been some high profile cheap shots but those have resulted in long suspensions. I think the NHL is actually less violent than it used to me, much less violent. Houghbotditto.. those lil girls... the NHL sucks!! Actually I like it this way better. I don’t think the fighting and such should be eliminated but there was too much unsportsmanlike like crap in the past that got in the way of the game sometimes.
there is undoubtedly a rash of violence across the NHL.bluezyA "rash of violence"? How do you figure? It's not like there is something happening every day? If you look back over the years there will always be bad apples. Tootoo, Simon, Ovechkin (hit from behind), Bert, McSorley, C.Lemieux, Hunter, etc...Not just in hockey either.
With Jordin Tootoo's KO punch on Stephane Robidas on saturday, there is undoubtedly a rash of violence across the NHL. Do you guys think that this is just a one-time thing that will go away, or will violent acts like the Chris Simon stick attack on Hollweg become the norm? Is this just a part of the game? Lastly, what do you think needs to be done to address this problem, if 25-game suspensions aren't enough?bluezyI think it is becoming too violent. Most professional athletes behave like children on and off of the field/rink and need to be punished accordingly. You wouldn't let a 3 year old go around whacking people in the face with a stuck as hard as he could, and a pro player can't do that either without consequences so give them a punishment that hurts. Fining a multi-millionaire 25,000 is nothing but making them sit out almost an entire season, well that's brutal and necessary.

No. Would I let a 3 year old who was hit from behind having his head smash into a wall swing a stick at someone? Yup.
