Joakhim Noah was arrested for having an open intoxicant on the sidewalk in Gainsville and upon being searched was found to be in possession of marijuana. I personally don't give a damn what people (athletes included) do with their free time but this seemed inevitable, the guy is an obvious smoker. Is anyone else not surprised by this whatsoever?

Im not surprised at all. He's still young, hanging out in his old college town, smoking it up. Until the NBA starts testing during the off-season, then I see no reason why players should be penalized seperately.

Do you realize that the next day after the open alcohol and weed bust, Joaking got in trouble AGAIN. He was cited by University of Florida police for driving with a suspended license without knowledge and for not wearing a seat belt Sunday night. What a jackass.

I wont go saying it fries your brain but it is an addictive drug and it is bad for you if you do it a lot, the same goes with alcohol. Anyways why does anybody care what Noah does on his off time? It his personal life and it should not be in the sports channels or sports news. When will sport talk about sports here instead of drama in sports. Drama is for girls.

Marijuana / Tetrahydro Cannibal (The Active Chemical in Marijuana) has no physicly addictive propertys. It has been tested in Labs many many time. It also has no negitive effects to your body other then the act of smoking the plant, which is less harmful then smoking cigarettes. You burn more brain cells holding your breath under water for a deep dive in a pool or ocean then you do smoking a joint or a bowl.

Alcohol on the other hand is the worst drug of them all. People die everyday from the withdrawals you go through (DT's or Delirium Tremors) when detoxing from alcohol. The short term effects of getting drunk also far outweight the effects from a marijuana high. Especially when you bring driving into it. Your EXTREMELY more physically impaired when drinking alcohol then when high.

Now no I am not some stoner trying to defend marijuana, I used to smoke when I was young but quit when I had my son (smoked everyday for 10 years+). I did not withdraw from some "marijuana addiction". Sure there is a slight mental addiction when you try to quit but that is due to the lifestyle you lead and having to change so dramatically and live without that "high" everyday.

Mental addcition is an addiction. If you dont smoke one day and that day you are feeling like you need to smoke even though you know you shouldnt, it makes it addicting. Im in the same boat as you and I can admit that Mary Jane is an addictive drug. Is it that bad as people assume it to be? I dont think so but I also dont think it is good for you overall. Killing brain cells is one thing but changing you mental thought using a drug is bad also. I agree 100% that Alcohol is an evil drug that creates violence and an ugly drug to be addicted to. Driving drunk is terrible compared to being high since when your high you might get into an accident but then again you were only going 30 MPH unlike drunk and trying to break the speed record in your neighborhood, hahahaha. You have smoked more than I have but Mary J messes with your memory alot and I have felt the addiction to it. Maybe not physically but mentally it is there. oh yeah, you were a stoner and today you are defending Mary. hahaha. Remember there is also studies that say Wine is good for the heart and other stuff but in the end you know what is good for your body and what is not. Mary is fun as long as you dont abuse it just like everything else in life.

Mental Addiction isnt cause by the drugs though. It is a personal psycological problem. People who get mentally addicted to marijuana had other mental addictions before it came along (or had not had others yet but they soon followed later in life). Such as video games, workaholics, sports, etc etc.

About the wine thing, its only red wine and they say that one glass a day is good for the heart... not one bottle ;-)

A great example? Since when is it his job to be a role model to kids. Parents should maybe raise their children themselves and stop rellying on the TV to raise them for them. What he does on his private time is his buisness not ours.

I find that hard to beleive you have never (even as a teenager or a young 20) had a beer on the streets. Even a residential street in front of a house party. But even if you havent like Balindos said, if you leave said bar drunk. You have broke the law. Thats the funny thing about Bars. Your not supposta go in there and drink enough to be drunk, legally you only suppost to drink a few. Because if you leave said bar piss drunk, your publically intoxicated.

I wasn't even a big time (or little time) basketball star and I was smart enough to think before I did stupid stuff.

I somehow doubt some cops were waiting outside a bar nabbing everyone who had a few drinks. The dude was carrying weed on him too, clearly he's a thinker.

IMO i think weed should be considered the same as alcohol and tobacco.

Ive seen alot more people die from smoking cigs, and alot more problems with drinking then with someone smoking a doobie.

Being a bouncer for a few years, i had to deal with so many people that where either A) Drunk and fighting B) Drunk and fighting and C) on Coke .... never once did i have to kick someone out for being under the influence of weed. But almost all the fights ive seen in my life where caused from liquer. Weed can also be used for cancer patients and for other health issues (its great for people who have lost alot of weight and cant eat also). Its also not just thugs or druggies who smoke, there are a wide range of people from lawyer, docters, teachers (university in Ontario has a teacher who is aloud to smoke on breaks because of his health problems), etc. But they are not in the spot like as deep as these atheletes are, they have cameras on them and are rolemodels for alot of kids, they should think about it before they get there selfs smoking all the time when they should be training.

But with that being said, i dont think athletes in the NBA should be drinking or smoking much at all, as they are paid alot of money and need to be in great shape. Its far from a performing enhancing drug, but i think athletes should be a little more responsible.

My Indiana Pacers have had alot of problems with guys smoking and while overall i dont think its a huge deal, with the way the rules are and the fact that its illegal still in the states should suggest to them that they stay away. If it was legal then id be a little more leanient, but its not and i think they should follow the rules.

No, why would I care what players on my team do during their offseason? As long as hes not out raping women or drunk driving there isn't any reason to care. Hehad a joint and a beer. Big whoop dee do.

You would care when they kept it up and were suspended.

I don't much care if the dude drinks and smokes on his own time, but that doesn't make him any less stupid for doing so considering his position.

O I agree he is an idiot. but he has shown no evidence that he would or has done this during the NBA season. So untill he does it during that time we shouldnt care.

If he gets suspended it is his problem even though he is on my favorite team. It is just a game buddy. He has the freedom to do whatever he wants, its his life not yours. I can call stupid for doing it but it doesnt anger me because he done nothing to me. So my team is missing their star player for smoking weed, oh well bad luck.

The point is if it was your favorite player you would be dissapointed. What if Lebron was busted for selling marijuana? Would you care then? im sure you would.

Why should I be dissappointed in a person I dont even know??? If he was a friend of mine then yes. Its just a game.

[QUOTE="AHUGECAT"]Marijuana should be legalized already. Meth, heroin, etc. etc. should remain illegal though.Master_Jdog
Marijuana fries your brain after a while.

Until you come up with medical research that proves this statement true, then all you are doing is making false claims. There are plenty of people who have smoked all their lives and are perfectly sane.

Personally I could care less if my favorite players smoke weed. I say more power to them because they have the money to smoke the best dro so why not.

why is it a big deal? because it's illegal.

people do stupid things when high, just like they do when they're drunk.

it does matter what he does in his own time when it's illegal. how come some laws are okay to break and others not?

Some laws are their for safety, some for taking your money, some so the GOV can make more money. You can smoke all the Mary you want but to do it you have to buy from the government. If Mary was legal then every pot smoker will grow their own plants and buy from nobody. Instead the GOV makes it illegal and sell it at a premium. At the end its all about money and keeping you hard at work. The old times of a kingdom will never end.

Are you being sarcastic because the Gov does sell weed. Welcome to california buddy, its been going on for a long time too. What do you think they give people perscriptions so they can buy off a dealer????
