There's no doubt in my mind he'll go pro.  All of this hype only boosts him draft number.  I feel that if he stays in college, he won't be able to perform at his current level.  His draft stock would then plummnet, leaving making only 6 figures for the first few years in the League.  I hope he goes Pro.  You can always return to school to get a degree.  Many players finish their degrees via distance learning.  If obtaining a degree is that important to him, he'll pursue that avenue.  Good thread!

There is nothing left for Durant at the collegiate level. Also, he's a lock to be the second pick of the draft. He will go to the pros and make big bucks

That money would be too tempting for me to ignore. I'd damn sure enter the draft if I was Durant. Hell the guy who was Micheal Jordan's agent says he'd come out of retirement just to be Durant's agent. That's gotta be bucking his head up something fierce, add to that he's the first freshman to win Player of the Year? He's as good as gone as far as I'm concerned.

He'd be an absolute moron to stay.  Let's see...come out now and be a top 2 pick in the draft guaranteeing yourself fiscal solvency (assuming he doesn't spend like an idiot) for the remainder of his life, or stay in college and risk blowing out a knee or some similar damage and watch his draft stock plummet.  Easy choice.

i think 1 more year would suit him well.  he would get back to back player of the year awards no doubt, it would only help his game and confidence and he would have a legitamate chance at the national championship.  with that said hes absolutly the best player in the draft right now and if he did come out i couldnt blame him

Were Joakim Noah, Al Horford, Corey Brewer, and Taurean Green idiots for not entering the NBA draft last year? Didn't think so...

And you have to be kidding yourself if you think Durant's stock would fall...

I think that's an unfair comparison to make. None of those Gators were on the level potential Durant has of going pro. Texas has some good young players, but I think it would be pointless for Durant to stay another year.  Maybe, if his team was close to winning the National Championship, but it wasn't.

I would be SHOCKED if Durant doesn't go.

Joakim Noah would've most likely gone #1 overall if he came out a year ago... how is that any different than Kevin Durant's situation? The only difference is that if Durant stays there is no way he falls out of the next 2 picks in the next draft either....while Joakim has slipped some but he could care less where he gets picked as long as its still high.

The Gators boys stayed an extra year to repeat as Champions, Durant can stay another year and repeat as Player of the Year while still competing for a Championship.... that's not a similarity again?

The Gators boys not only stayed because they wanted to repeat as Champions, they stayed because they ENJOYED college and being best friends with each other, and didn't want to go separate ways so soon since they were all each others' best friends. As much as people think money means everything, it doesn't. Money is always gonna be there for Durant, his childhood won't. Durant just seems like the type of person who thinks this way to me... it wouldn't suprise me at all if he stayed another year and passed on the NBA.

Everyone told me I was wrong last year when I said the Gator boys would come back to school and look what happened...

I'd really advise Durant to go because his draft stock will never get higher. However, being a KU fan I think it's foolish for Wright to go. He's just isn't ready for the bigs at all. He needs to stay in college to improve his game. He is too skinny to play down low in the NBA and definitely has no outside shot at all. There just isn't a place for him yet.

I'm not saying I wouldn't be excited for Durant if he decided he wants to stay at Texas, but I just don't see him turning down the chance to make big money at the pro level. Yeah, the money might be there if he decides to stay, but what if he gets hurt. Do you think he'll be taken #1 in next year's draft if he has a serious injury?

One thing that still bothers me about Durant is his size. He's 6'9, but has the muscle mass of Barbosa which is not good for a player his size. I'm sure he' going to put a lot of work in the weight room, so that might not be as big of an issue.

And as far as Noah goes, I think he's highly overrated and will not have as good a pro career as Horford or Brewer will. Maybe I'm wrong, but I just don't see it happening.

I agree with you regarding Julian's readiness, though that will not stop a team from picking him up in the top 10 of the draft. Durant on the other hand needs pro competition if he wants to significantly improve next season, he flat out dominated college hoops as a freshman. Plus there's a nice paycheck involved or so I've heard.

Exactly my point.  I never said his play would make his draft stock plummet.  He can earn big money NOW with no risk due to guaranteed contracts in the NBA, but if he blows out his knee or suffers a serious ankle injury next season playing for Texas, his draft stock WILL plummet.

I remember Baron Davis tearing his ACL at UCLA and still getting drafted #3 overall, and there were plenty of questions still about his knee at the time he was drafted.

But honestly what are the odds of Durant getting an injury so severe that he falls out of the lottery? He has a greater chance of getting in a car accident and breaking his neck on the way to McDonalds, should he not drive a car anymore? Being scared of inuries isn't what got Durant to this point in the first place.

Strange things happen, I'm just saying why would he return for another season with Texas? With Noah, Brewer and Horford, they knew they had a chance of repeating as National Champs. The Longhorns didn't even make it past the 2nd round in the NCAA tourney. Sure, they were a young team and will more than likely improve next season, but you think Durant is going to put the NBA to his side for another season? I think not...

If Durant stays I guarantee you they will be ranked top 3 if not number 1. You dont know the Texas team other than Durant...ive told you about Augustin and you think he is nothing special. James has talent, Abrams will have a breakout year next year too, plus everyone has 1 year experience...they have as much shot as anyone if Durant stays.

I never said he doesn't have the potential of being a good point guard, but he just didn't impress me like other freshman point guards did (Conley jr, Lawson). And I'm sorry, but the Longhorns will not be ranked #1 if Durant goes or if he stays.

Anyway, there's too many ifs about a lot of players that are considering the draft, but might change their minds which have an impact on the pre preseason rankings/

I'm pretty anxious to see what Durant can do at the pro level....and money definitely factors in.
