I say no, but now they need to do all the getting Bynum back into the lineup thing again. Also, they might make a trade for a big guy.

naw laker title hopes are still alive even despite a big blow like this. As long as Ariza stays healthy we'll be fine

I say yes---it was clear last year that they missed a big man up the middle. Rebounding and contested shots will be missed in the playoffs. They can still make the playoffs and maybe even the finals, but to face a team like the Celtics again, the lakers would be in trouble.

They will be fine in the sense that they should still probably get the best record in the west, but i think it will end their chances at getting home court. I can now see at least 2 if not all 3 of the Eastern conference elite teams ending the year w/ a better record than the lakers, which will ultimately kill them. You take this injury and the fact that they have more road games left than any other team in the league, they are definitely gonna have to win a game or two in boston or cleveland in teh finals in order to win it all, cause you can kiss homecourt good bye

Isn't that what they said last year when he mised the rest of the season? Anyway, that sucks for the Lakers, it hurts their championship oddds a bit, but if Bynum can come back they'll be ok. They can easily make a high playoff spot without him, if not win the #1 seed.

Well Kobe displayed tonight he can still destroy a team single handedly and score for 7 players if he wants to.

I still think they'll end up 1st in the West, which will help in the playoffs. And I'm pretty sure Bynum will be back by then.

I don't understand. What's the karma? Anyway, this sucks for Bynum. I feel bad for the guy. He's so darn good too.

I still think LA wins the 1 seed in the West, but it will be tough to get home court advantage throughout the playoffs without Bynum. They have TONS of road games left, more than any other team in the league over the second half of the season. This will be a big obstacle. I'm not even worrying about the Finals or anything yet, just hoping LA can get him back in the scheduled timeframe. Hopefully it's not worse than they thought.

oden- 9pts, 7rbs, in 23 min a game halfway through his first year. He won't continue to get in foul trouble for the rest of his career cause NO player does. They adjust to the style. Even on a bad day the guy is a walking double-double when he gets 35 min. I'm not saying he'll be great, but half a season is definitely not enough time to judge someone

When the guy gets 35 minutes or more a game he averages 16 and 12, not to mention his ability to block shots. He'll adjust to the game and cut down on the fouls. He definitely won't be a bust. He'll be a double double guy his whole career

This is about right. They CAN still win the championship, but it will be a lot harder.

Bynum seems to get hurt every year now, I can not wait to see him play a season where he does not get hurt for a long period.

It wasn't a cheap shot, Bynum was just out of position and was attempting a hard foul. He tried to use his upper body and arms to stop Wallace but Wallace had already taken off the ground at full speed. Of course Bynum never intended to give Wallace broken ribs and a collapsed lung he even apologized to Larry Brown after the game. From the Boston Herald: "That kid waited at our bus, trying to get to Gerald, and he apologized to me," Brown said. "If he had a history of that (rough play), I might feel different, but I just think it was a hard foul." http://news.bostonherald.com/sports/basketball/other_nba/view/2009_01_29_Bobcats_star_Gerald_Wallace_remains_in_Los_Angeles_hospital/srvc=home&position=recent

Karma came back and got Bynum for the cheap shot he took on Gerald Wallace. Anyway I never took the Fakers serious as championship contenders.

Good news! Andrew Bynum should be out in less time than expected. Looks like the Lakers should be healthy coming into the playoffs barring any further injuries.

The Lakers will still have a chance. They did really well last year without Bynum, and they will get him back at some point before or during the playoffs. Even if Bynum isnt 100% I think they still have a shot, I think there are a few teams with a real chance to win the title this season.

Bynum hurts Wallace, so Bynum gets hurt.
