[QUOTE="wildcat2000"][QUOTE="kfjl"]You can't understand why unless you've lived through years of sports disappointments, years of your hometown and the people in it being insulted by the rest of the country, and years of watching the city die, homes getting foreclosed on, and jobs getting relocated. In a nutshell, there's a hell of a lot of frustration, anger and sadness that has been built up for years, and it's all going to come out Thursday night towards a guy that was thought of as the one who would never leave because he was a native of the area, one of their own. He not only leaves but does it in an extremely insulting fashion. People switch teams all the time, but to them, he's more than just a guy who switched teams. He's the symbol of that area's frustrations. Most of the rest of the nation doesn't understand, and I don't expect them to because they're looking at the situation through their eyes and based on their own experiences rather than how Cleveland fans have experienced life. But isn't that wrong and immature for people and a whole city to do? To base your life on some Sports star making your town famous just because he grewup there. Thats ridiculous and just makes them out to a bunch of losers who don't think enough of themselves to be their own person. That they must live their life through a celebrity.
Everyone has problems but you can't blame other people for them. To blame one person for a a whole city's money problems (a person that doesn't even run the city) is totally stupid.
Now I don't remember, but did he actually say that? Did he actually promise them a championship? I agree you shouldn't be making promises that big when you never know how things will work out or what can change over time. Still even if he did say that it's still stupid for a whole city to base their life and happines on a celebrity that they arn't even personally related too.
He accepted the "King" title and promised a championship.Ya like I said you should not make huge promises like that when things can always change. He should not have said that.
But saying he accepted the nickname "King" is a dumb thing to hold against him. Sports players get nicknames all the time. Its the fans that give it to them. How do you NOT accept a nickname? Hold a press confrence to tell everyone to stop calling you that?
The whole "He took the name King James" thing is just another thing haters like bring up when theres nothing else to add. If Howard left the Magic no one would be complaining about him "taking" the name Superman. Other players have moved around the NBA with no mention of who should be named who.
They just to it to Lebron because of how all this happend over the summer.
