LSU Tigers should be number 1.

Not only did we completly destroy the #10 ranked VT Hokies but we just killed #12 ranked SC, how could anyone argue to not make us 1, USC has played no one, there only top 25 team was a very overated Nebraska.

VT was overrated as well. Unless USC choke big time, there is no reason to put LSU ahead of them.

They were ranked 10 and we just beat the 12, USC has beaten no one, how could you possible believe they are the Number 1 team in the nation.

Its just not right, we have beaten more quality opponents than any other team in the country and won by huge margins so we should be 1 because we are the best.

I hate to agree with you, but I do. I'm a hardcore Sooners fan but if I had to pick who should really be no 1 at this point, it would be LSU. They've played a tougher schedule than USC and have shown dominance over ranked teams. I think the biggest reason that USC is always no 1 is their "Hollywood" personality. I would vote for the Sooners as no 1 is they had played tougher teams. But I wouldn't be surprised if it's OU and LSU for the national title. What sucks is that it would be back in New Orleans like it was in 2003.

Stay strong, fellow Tiger fan. To make matters even more annoying they say that USC won the national championship, even though we are the team who played in the game and the team that has the trophy. LSU just needs to concentrate on winning out, then we'll be able to prove who is really the best team in the nation.

Nah I think USC has more talent on both sides right now, LSU isnt far behind but USC is my number 1 team. If you guys beat Florida though in a few weeks LSU will be my number 1 too.

As much as I really don't care for USC, they're #1 cause no one has beaten them yet. The pre-season ranking really don't help in this matter. I think they should do away with them, because there are far too many high rank teams getting beat out there. USC hasn't really played anyone, you're correct, but they've been spanking everyone they've played. I can't say if LSU is better or not, but they have had a tougher schedule thus far. Should they be ranked #1, probably, but they season is still young and we have a lot of games to play. LSU will have their chance to win the NC and if they are as good as we believe, then it won't matter who's #1 right now, but who's holding that trophy at the end. Patience.

Look, USC has done nothing but dominate. It is not their FAULT that they play with a weaker schedule.

Yeah, I was gonna say that... It's not like USC can go in and change their schedule just to face tougher opponents and try to prove you wrong.

Is it? Because last I checked the school makes calls and determines who their non-conference opponents are. I'm sure you'll just give the excuse that nobody wants to play them.

So you don't think Nebraska should fall after beating Ball St. by 1 at home?

Wait, does it even matter who's freakin' number 1? Because LSU, if they win against Florida, will be undisputed number 1, but if they lose, they won't be, and that Flordia-LSU game is coming up, so who cares?

What what I'm sayin'. LSU doesn't have the media on their payroll(not my words). They just gotta win out. Then, everything else will fall in place.

Well here's the reason that it doesn't matter, it's clear that LSU and USC are better than all the other teams. And if LSU moves into #1 if they beat Florida than USC would move back into #1 if they beat Cal, so what's the point of flip flopping? Plus no complaining about LSU having to play Florida twice, don't like the championship game, go to a different conference that doesn't have one.

I think we can all admit that VT was completely overrated. Their ranking was based mostly on good feelings and sympathy. LSU is a great team, but I don't see why they should be #1. Either team is a fine #1, but USC has reputation. LSU has to prove that they belong there, and a few games doesn't really do that.

USC is a good team, but I think their "Hollywood/SoCal" image carries them a bit too far. I find it a bit ironic that as soon as the Raiders and Rams disapperead from the Los Angeles area, USC started inching closer towards the top of the NCAAF polls. Now don't get me wrong, USC is a great team and I feel they do deserve to be seated at No. 2 in the rankings. However, LSU looks like monsters this year compared to everyone else.

That statement is completely untrue. LA lost its NFL teams after the 94 season, and USC didn't gain national prominence until 2002. They went 43-41 from 1996 to 2001. While I admire your active imagination, I would ask that you please do some research before you make such claims.

You're right. I was a little harsh and incorrect when I said "as soon". It didn't happen that quickly. But over time, the LA area became deprived of football and realized their greatest hope and potential to shine in the national football spotlight would come from USC. That has been achieved and Pete Carroll is a great guy with a great team. But back to the original topic of this thread, LSU is on fire and until some huge upset happens, I see LSU and USC in the National Championship to settle the argument.

Now I can agree with that, although Oklahoma and Florida might have something to say about it. I honestly expect each of 4 top teams to lose a game this year, though. Should be fun to see how it unfolds.

That's exactly what scares me. I'm a diehard Sooners fan and know that they have flaws that haven't been exposed yet. Same goes with Florida. I get very nervous watching OU because I know that when they play on a true national level, they can easily crumble. I think LSU and USC can perform under the microscope very well. However, this season for the Sooners reminds me of the 2000 season when they won the national championship. They started out ranked barely in the top 25, but slowly and surelymade their way to national champions. I can't wait for the rest of this college football season. No hateful feelings towards your teams. It's all about the fun of college football!

Idk but same week LSU and FLorida play Texas and OU play, so the top 5 could be complety different. Plus if OU or Texas blow each other out, they could get some number 1 votes as well.

I'm going to have my heart and blood pressure checked out before that week. I'm also going to ask for some pain pills. That way I can have something to calm me down before both of those games. Maybe some Valium or Vicadin. I just want to be sedated that weekend.

I'll probably miss most of the LSU-Florida game pending the time of the Auburn/Vandy game.

Not exactly. USC doesn't have to do as much b/c they were already on top. They just have to maintain. LSU has to really impress to prove that they belong there. It's really not a difficult concept, real life actually works this way as well.

You have to see this coming, it didn't work back in 2004, when I thought Auburn proved they should have played USC in the Championship.

I guess it depends. If OU is winning by 2 TDs after 1st quater, I won't watch it. If it stays within a TD or a FG after the 1st quarter, I will probably watch it.
