I was thinking the same thing. The only possibility I could think of is that TJ was asking for more money and LT has known for a while now that he can't command the same salary that he used to so maybe they're spending less money on LT than on TJ. That wouldn't be the worst thing as LT has proven he can play as the second RB and Shonn Greene is obviously still the team's future back, but if they're spending more on LT than they would have on Thomas Jones I don't get this move at all.
I thought he wanted to win a Super Bowl... monkeytoes61Ummm. The Jets went to the AFC Championship game this past season....:?

Well like Rex said, they won, they got in. Beat the Bengals, not once but twice even when they were said to be "playing for real" and destroyed the high powered Chargers. Yes, the Jets fell short of beating the Colts but hey, they made it to the AFC champ game and played well. The Jets did good in their first year with a Rookie QB and headcoach. They also should of won the division but Sanchez kept throwing so many stupid throws in the beginning of the season. Because of Rex, they will be a force to deal with for sometime now.

You don't honestly think they are talented enough to win the big game, do you? Seeing that the Saints made it to the big game, and considering the Jets made the Saints offensive look dull, only allowing the Saints to score what 10 points on offense :| , yes, the Jets could of handled the Saints again. Only thing needed to be done was Sanchez not throwing to Sharper again and not fumbling which he limited turnovers during the PO. As for the overall team, they have the talent to make it to the SB and win the division. The JETS are back. My random rant is done :)

Not to take anything away from the Jets, but they played favorable teams in the playoffs until they got to the Colts. The Bengals were the weakest team in the playoffs. Most of their wins came from division games (outside of that they were 4-6) and those games are always different from regular matchups because the players know the opposition and this year was just the Bengals year in that department. On top of that they were a defensive team this year, and the Jets have much better defense than the Bengals so in a head to head matchup, they have the advantage. Then you guys head to San Diego. In my opinion, San Diego is overrated. They've ALWAYS been overrated. They play in one of the weakest divisions in football. Of course, they're going to have a good record. That being said, Phillip Rivers is a hell of a quarterback and that alone usually makes them a threat. But their defense is garbage. Ron Rivera is obviously doing something wrong with a defense that used to be good and has the same players it had before. That's why the Jets beat them. A defensive team like the Jets versus a one dimensional team with only one strength will win the game. Much like the Baltimore Ravens did earlier in the season. Playing the Chargers instead of the Colts was a big advantage to them. Essentially they are the kryptonite to a team like the Chargers who are more like a 9-7 team than a 13-3 team. I would say if the Jets played the Ravens or even the Patriots, they probably wouldn't have made it to the AFC championship. That's not to say they don't have potential. There are some playmakers on that defense and it'll remain dominant for awhile. If Sanchez gets better (I've never been high on this guy) than they'll be in good shape for awhile, but giving up Thomas Jones I think was a huge deal. He performed very well, and I realize Shonn Greene is emerging, but Jones isn't the type of guy you just let go. Again, he was an anchor and letting him go was a mistake.[QUOTE="xbox360isgr8t"][QUOTE="MoonMarvel"]Ummm. The Jets went to the AFC Championship game this past season....:?Fuhgeddabouditt
There was literally no better team for LT to be on. What an ideal situation for both the Jets and LT. DA_B0MBcare to explain why? Wouldn't the vikings have been better? where LT could bench warm for more of the game, since he can't play a full game anymore? I mean he now has to be the #1 back, he'll fail hard, he probably won't make it thru the season and if he does he'll be sitting out for yet another playoffs. If the jets can even get to the playoffs, which I doubt. Sanchez will have a sophomore slump, and I bet his will be bad, very vad. They're defense will be stout no doubt, but they downgraded their run game and they don't have much of a passing game as is.
dudes a joke
i'll give him 5 games before he's out for the season due to a vicioushangnail
....yes i'm hatin'

I will admit LT is in the back end of his career, but he's not done. Let's not forget how reliant the Chargers became on their passing game. As many like to say it became River's team, and no longer LT's. It's already been stated LT will not be the #1 back for the Jets, he'll be backing up Shonn Greene. I find a sophmore slump for Sanchez very unlikely. I see no reason why Sanchez, coming off a rookie year where he was coached excelently and lead his team to the AFC title game, won't improve at least marginally working with essentially the same receiving core and losing his rookie jitters. It's not like the Jets are going to become pass happy anyway so he's not going to be forced to try and put up huge numbers. I'm not a Jets fan but I think it's obvious that for LT's sake the Jets were the best team for him.

Your right that he has a good O-line in front of him, but shonn greene and LT are not gonna get it done, and they can't go to the pass. The reason it became Rivers team is because LT has been falling apart for years, just look at his stats for last season. I dunno if you get chargers games in your area, I only get a few, but what I saw was rivers and sproles get the ball up the field, and LT take the TD from 1 foot out, he didn't do any work to receive those tds he got, and thats all he did, only 600 something yards. Edit: Oh, forgot to mention.. Joe flacco had a horrid sophomore year, now it's just pure coincidence that Rex Ryan happened to be a coach on that team I know, he obviously had nothing to do with it, being a def coordinator, and not being there for his bad sophomore year, but thats just an example of a young good looking QB who has a horrid second year, and yeah maybe it is an omen too :)[QUOTE="fastr"][QUOTE="DA_B0MB"]There was literally no better team for LT to be on. I do agree that LT has definitely lost his luster and he's not the explosive guy he was a few years ago, but it is not solely his fault for his steady decline in production. everyone knows Norv Turner is a passing guy. he loves his quarterbacks and when he has a talent like Phillip Rivers, he's going to use him to his fullest potential. And that met leaving LT out of the loop. that's why his production began to slip. and that's also why LT was complaining about being in Norv Turner's system. Historically if you look at a Norv Turner controlled team, the runningbacks have performed poorly. Unless LT is the center of the offense he's not going to perform well enough. that being said, at this point he has way too much mileage on his legs, and i very much doubt he's going to be effective and a complimentary running back. but the Jets have all the other pieces in place. they have a solid defense anchored by a talented defensive line and on the other side of the ball they have an incredible offensive line that's anchored by Nick Mangold. and this game is won in the trenches, so that's is definitely promising. but giving up Thomas Jones in favor of an unproven Shonn Greene? that i do not agree with. and then thinking that bringing LT in somehow justifies it is even more ridiculous.[QUOTE="fastr"] care to explain why?
