I plan on purchasing the PS3 or 360 soon. At the moment, both consoles fit what I'm looking for equally. But a big factor on my purchasing decision revolves around the online community for Madden and NHL (and sports games in general). Which console has a more active online community for these games? Thanks in advance. I hope to meet you over PSN or Xbox Live soon.

360 by far has the more active online community

I can guarantee that you will hardly notice any difference between the two communities. Sure the XBOX 360's community may be a bit larger, but you won't notice that too much. And of course, the PlayStation Network is free. So take your pick. Both are great communities.

Both are equally huge -- I personally prefer the PS3 versions of the games, however they are not that much different. It really comes down to how you like online organized and whether or not you mind paying for that online ...

Could you explain how online is organized differently for the two consoles? Also, one cool thing I noticed on my friend's 360 was that he could watch his friends' Tekken match live. Is this possible with sports games (as in, I could spectate a live game)? How about with the PS3?

I prefer the 360 over PS3 because of the online community other than that the PS3 is the better system.

No sweat

The 360 is the console that's tied to online the most. It's got the easiest to use and also the most feature filled online experience.

It's also got the most features overall like the ability to talk to people no matter what game they're playing on the network and other things like the ability to play music in the background of every single game. Things that the PS3 still does not have.

Not all games have the ability to have a watch feature, it has to be specifically in that game.

I have a 360 and PS3 and if it wasn't for The Show I wouldn't touch my PS3 for any sports game. Considering that even now all sports games are made for the 360 and ported over to the PS3 I just go with what they were designed for in the first place, plus I'm an adult and my hands can't fit on that little PS3 controller that well.
