And that was when a Gamespot score meant something, not like now with 0.5 increments, for all we know this year Madden could be a 7.8.
Madden got a 8.0 ._. ...im surprised.. But the gaming community rates it a 6.7 ..and it keeps droppinglilboicookieHow many of them are Madden haters who rate it low without playing it?

But the gaming community rates it a 6.7 ..and it keeps droppinglilboicookiewell if you take out the scores some people gave that are probably 1's since they didn't play it but just wanted to bash it, the real score is more around 7. Everything I have seen from Madden this year it probably doesn't deserve a higher score since it really didn't add all that much and didn't bother to improve franchise mode and superstar mode.

The 2K series was garbage meant for gamers who don't know sports to try to catch on with the nation's past time
It was an abomination of the sport and was nothing at all like real football
The reason it's still praised today is because the niche set that played it and thought they knew how one of the popular sports was played, they later found out they were wrong when the NFL themselves said that they did not want that game representing their game because it was nothing like it.
The ship has sailed for 2K, if they really were worth anything their return a few years back would have blown all other games out of the water
I bought Madden 11 and love it, so sorry TC i don't see that they didn't put effort into it, I think they put more effort in this one than there latest.
Special teams = BROKEN. Players don't block at all on punt and kick returns
Defense = BROKEN. Slant and drag routes are pretty much unstoppable. The game is unplayable on All Madden. WR's and HB's will break EVERY TACKLE.
Online play = BROKEN. Everyone online is just abusing the passing game and the running game. You can just use Chris Johnson and run for over 200 yards easily.

i'll answer that for him, no he has not. obviously if he thinks madden is the closest thing to the real game of football then you already know there is a problem. My guess is he's been playing madden since it came out and thinks it's the best thing since sliced bread
also I'd love for him to link me where the NFL says "they did not want that game representing their game because it was nothing like it"
check out this article from 2004
"But if history and current trends shine a light on what is to come, gamers might be cheated of a more innovative product because EA Sports tends to put development on proverbial cruise control when it has control over a genre"
"That said, quickly name a video game that slides by with fictional team and player names?
Exactly.
Take-Two spokesman Ed Nebb said in a statement used in an ESPN.com article that the move would, "do a tremendous disservice to the consumers and sports fans whose funds ultimately support the NFL, by limiting their choices, curbing creativity and almost certainly leading to higher game prices."
the truth has been revealed. Look at what has happened to Madden since 2005. They're not progressing because they have no competition. Instead of fixing broken gameplay, they focus on gimmicks which aren't gonna fool the hardcore gamers. The loyal fanbase like JaysonGuy over here will always buy madden no matter how bad it is

You've never stepped foot on a football field have you? I think he is the one that thought it takes longer to throw a bullet pass than a lob pass.If I must be honest, this whole EA vs. 2K debate is the worst that has ever come up in gaming. Seriously. I've played both in different iterations(NFL 2K5, Madden 10) and they're both fun to play, just in different ways(2K for realism, Madden for pick-up-and-play) and I'm OK with both st yles.
Yeah, but no we don't have that option.they're both fun to play, just in different ways(2K for realism, Madden for pick-up-and-play) and I'm OK with both st yles.

Like I said before, I think Backbreaker made more improvements with one patch than Madden has in two years. Natural Motion actually listened to the community's complaints and fixed the problems. When was the last time EA listened to their fans? No competition has made them lazy and greedy, I wish the NFL would realize their games suck and put the license out there for anybody to use.monkeytoes61yeah, i'm sick of the crap madden keeps pushing out every year. im glad i picked up backbreaker. GREAT game!
I'm sure Backbreaker is fun (I haven't played it yet), but I wish Madden looses it's NFL license and 2K gets it back.
2K5 was fun, and still is, but I want to get it on the next gen so we can have a great next gen NFL game again. I'm sick of madden being crappy and boring every year, and since I sold my 360 and got a PS3 (no backwards compatibility with PS2) I can't even play 2K5 anymore.
Competition is good, all we need is for anyone who wishes to make a NFL Licensed game being able to do it.I'm sure Backbreaker is fun (I haven't played it yet), but I wish Madden looses it's NFL license and 2K gets it back.

Too bad Madden 11 was way more fun than Backbreaker. I had a blast playing Madden 11, it wasnt even close to boring. Try actually playing it and I dont mean the demo. Also I am HAPPY 2K lost the license, NFL 2K5 was the most overrated football game ever. I owned both 2K5 and Madden 2005, Madden was way better and deeper. The only thing that remains good about it is the commentary, franchise mode was terrible.[QUOTE="taj7575"]Too bad Madden 11 was way more fun than Backbreaker. I don't buy madden games, but I do have a friend who will let me borrow it, so I will try it sometime. And like always, I expect to be disappointed and bored of it.
And if the demo is bad, why would the game be significantly different?

I dont think the demo was bad, just has a learning curve because the controls felt odd to me at first. The bottom line is this and I say it over and over again every year this game comes out. Its football. Thats it. Why expect anything more then that? It is a football video game that represents what the NFL is, or they atleast try to bring as much reality to a game as possible. Every year its just updated rosters with some tweaks here and there. I don't understand why people make threads constantly bashing it just for the sake of it. Its a game that is fun to play with friends who get hyped up for the new season and who are fans andthats it. This game is not for people who are expecting these huge changes and or improvements to gameplay and physics and so on and so forth that you would expect in anFPS or any other game for that matter.
Thats the problem, its only a sports game and there is a limit to how much can be added. You want massive changes, maybe they should buy something else. The bottom line is this and I say it over and over again every year this game comes out. Its football. Thats it. Thats complete BS. Look at Fifa 10 compared to fifa 09, or mlb the show 08 compared to 09, and even nhl 08 to nhl 09. Sports games can make huge leaps in realism in one years time. Even madden has done it look at Madden 03 compared to 04 on PS2. The fact they don't anymore is simply because they don't have to. Madden being fun or not isn't up for debate as each person finds something different fun about the game. However it's unrealistic gameplay isn't up for debate. It gets absolutely nothing about the game of football correct. From Oline vs Dline play to Zone and Man coverage. Nothing about the game is realistic. It even messes up alot of the rules. The bottom line is this and I say it over and over again every year this game comes out. Its football. Thats it. Why expect anything more then that? Excuses, Madden fanboys have been dealing with that crap for such a long time that they have settled for mediocrity. I'm not sure what you mean, but the bottom line is what do you exactly want them to do? Add fatalities? Combos? How about a knife to the football, so when someone tries to intercept it, its stabs them? This is why I buy once every other year or maybe not at all. I used to buy a few years ago when I had people to come over the house and play, but since that hasn't happened in a while I don't bother with it. But to see people constantly bash it and say this and that is stupid. Its a football game, a football game. The bottom line is this and I say it over and over again every year this game comes out. FYI alot of people give a rats ass, Madden sales have been declining steadily the last 5 years. Just because it's a videogame doesn't mean you should accept crap. If need for speed came out and called it's self the best simulation on the market racing fans would be up in arms. I love football just because I don't look at my offensive line and say "hey their movement isn't really like real life doesn't mean I'm not a football fan, thats outragious. The difference between me and you is that Ican distinguish between what is real life and what is a video game. The things you are complaining about are like somebody saying "you know I wish when Marcus Fenix spoke all 200 muscles that are in his face would move like real life or that there were never any jaggies on consoles." The things you are complaining about are like somebody saying "you know I wish when Marcus Fenix spoke all 200 muscles that are in his face would move like real life or that there were never any jaggies on consoles." I mean seriously. :| Yes maybe they should fix some of the modes or add new ones or even modify the existing ones, but you know what when I play madden I pick my favorite and play out the season and continue on. I don't sit here and complain. You don't complain because you admit to being okay settling for less. The fact that everything I listed in my last post has been done last generation and isn't being done this generation should be a huge problem for anyone who pays money for football videogames. You say you love the NFL yet you are okay with this clown of a game, it's runs the great game of football through the mud. I'm sorry but I can't enjoy something so blatantly unrealistic, again I state if you can you're simply not much of a football fan or simply don't know much about the sport outside of what you see on TV.I love football just because I don't look at my offensive line and say "hey their movement isn't really like real life doesn't mean I'm not a football fan, thats outragious. The difference between me and you is that Ican distinguish between what is real life and what is a video game. What you want is real life, what can't be done in video games. The bottom line is what they have for a product is obviously the best they can do with these current gen systems. You want better physics? Well if you have been playing games for the past couple of years you will have noticed that console gaming has plateaued, and I'm sorry but if you are playing madden and you are looking at the line and saying "Gee I wish these devs would make the line more realistic" there is something wrong. You are supposed to be playing a football game,I mean come on! Thats so nitpicky! Then we are going to have agree to disagree. I love the NFL, I usually buy the Maddens every other year because it is a game of updated rosters and even if they did all the things that you claim they can do, I still wouldn't buy it every year because its the same thing over and over again. If I had people coming over and playing with me then I would get it. The bottom line is you want all those things and they bother you that they are not on there, but please don't sit here and say I don't know jack about the game of football and try to insult me because I'm just not that nitpicky or really just don't care. I'm sorry but I don't focus on how the players look and how they talk and all that other garbage, you know why? Because I play it on an xbox 360 that came out in 2005, it is now 2010. Unlike you I accept it for what it is and don't expect these huge improvements on a football game, especially when its the 5th or 6th one of its series for this generation. They made improvements from the 05 and 06 which were herendous, and 07-10 in my opinion weren't all that bad, nothing great, but not bad. You on the other hand, seem like a diehard Madden fan that expects the world from a game that really hasn't changed much in 8 years. When I play a Madden game I don't sit there and analyze the hell out of it, sure I look at the graphics, I see how the controls changed and get used to them and play the game. I get upset when they change the menus, but I move on. Again a majority of the things you speak of are hardware oriented and you if you can't understand that just maybe thats the best these consoles can do then I don't know what else to tell you.[QUOTE="xscrapzx"]
[QUOTE="i5750at4Ghz"] I want them to make a realistic football game. One that follows the basic fundamentals of the game. Proper head tracking, more life like animations, better player interactions, smarter defensive AI, Oline vs Dline play that actually looks like 2 units working to destroy each other not just a bunch of individual battles, route based passing, consecutive hit tackles or physics based tackling, player rating that matter, an actual update to franchise mode/super star mode (The sad thing is both modes were much better on the PS2 versions), there are 100's of improvements that can and should be made the fact you don't want them simply means you're not much of a football fan.
Also sitting here bringing in need for speed and saying that its like them saying its the best driving simulation on the market is not even in the same ballpark as what we are talking about, in fact not even in the dimension.
FYI alot of people give a rats ass, Madden sales have been declining steadily the last 5 years. Just because it's a videogame doesn't mean you should accept crap. If need for speed came out and called it's self the best simulation on the market racing fans would be up in arms. Madden is the equivalent to a need for speed game, when I and most gamers are looking for something along the lines of a forza/gt5.

The fact you don't is the reason I say you're not much of a fan of the game. A fan of the sport would want everything about the game as authentic as possible.[QUOTE="i5750at4Ghz"]

I'd consider you and I hardcore gamers who see the subtle differences and realizes it's not the same game year after year
