You're absolutely right -- one bad game against a legitimate Super Bowl contender will surely define the rest of Sanchez's season, if not his entire career.

What is shows is that Sanchez is over hyped. He played against three terrible football teams, put up decent numbers thanks to a short field provided by the defense and a big time running game, and he was the next big thing. But when the running game was gone, Sanchez turned into Jake Dehlomme. And the defense played their hearts out, but Sanchez gift wrapped the game.

It's all down hill from here.

Peyton Manning threw 28 interceptions his first year as a rookie and look how he turned out, Troy Aikman threw 18 interceptions his first year and look how he turned out. My point is please don't judge someone just by one game

I don't have cable, so no. I read the columns, surf respectable websites(Pro Football Talk.com among others) and post on forums. Sanchez was the second coming according to a lot of people.

This always happens. Someone has a good stretch of games, ESPN overblows it and acting it is the next messiah of Joe Namath or what it may be and when that QB struggles they are quick to say, "He is a rookie we did not expect him to be good". ESPN caters to the fans and tells them what they want to hear thus you hear absurd claims like Sanchez is the next Namath.

Get a grip, it's his first year and he's already shown signs of a great quarterback. I'll tell you what, show me one QB who hasn't had one bad game and i'll admit you're right. Go ahead, I'll wait.

What signs? Taking advantage of short fields against some of the worst defenses in the NFL who are stacking the box to stop Washington/Jones? He hasn't shown anything.

Hey the Patriots are a great defense. Look at their rankings, Top 5 if you don't believe me coming in to Week 4.

I fail to see how you (sharpshooter) are any better? As is always the case, the media build someone up and individuals such as yourself wait for them to fall from grace before putting the boot in. I've seen many an experienced high-end QB put up numbers as bad, if not worse than that. In the same way that one game cannot make a player, it cannot break him. Why not wait until the end of the season before we even comtemplate the kind of prospect Sanchez is?

Yea obviously, but for Mark Sanchez to not make the game won by the Patriots defense is a good feat for a rookie. (Nowhere near the caliber people say like Namath but good for a rookie)

I agree with Awesome here. That game was more a testament to how good the Saints' D is, and how dangerous they are as a team. Put up the numbers of how many times Sanchez was pressured or sacked and you'd see most QB's would struggle under that kind of pressure. I mean, you're trying to blame a forced fumble on the QB. Maybe that's partly his fault, but that also means the defense is getting to him very quickly. He's also one of a select few rookie QB's to go 3-1, and I think his rating up to that game was very close to, if not a record for rookies. Relying on the pass game, line giving him protection, stacking the box, blah, blah, blah, that just means he's on a good team. Even great QB's can't carry the team if they're not doing at least well in 3/4 of those categories anyways, just look at what Favre did the past couple of years, or look at the fact that Peyton Manning's only won one Superbowl for as good as he is.

You're thread fails. You think Brady, Manning never had a bad game their first year? Sanchez is a ROOKIE. He's gonna have bad games. The fact that he started 3-0 says a lot. Not to say that Sanchez will be great, but at least you see flashes of something. And that's a good thing for a ROOKIE. You can criticize their offense and such, but try to stick to the facts rather than sounding pathetic.

If you think you really can tell how a rookie QB's career is going to be after 4 official games ofbeing a starter than you sir have absolutely no idea what you are talking about and you know nothing about football.

Sanchez is a good looking man which the media loves. Before he even took the field, he was EVERYWHERE! I remember last week , he was on the front page of some newspaper here in NewYork where they praise him as the next Namath. The pic was of him with his shirt off :|. Yes, he is being overhyped, but he has played decent. Thank you Jets D.

The real test is how he's going to react. Will he come out with no confidence, or will he forget last week and throw two or three TDs?

Bump.

5 interceptions...against the Bills...

I got a lot of crap from everyone around here for this thread, and yet my prediction of an epic, New York Media fed meltdown is being realized right before our eyes. Sanchez looked ready to weep like a prissy maiden.

And I love it.

Thats part of it, but Sanchez physically and mentally can't cut it. His noodle arm will give him trouble in the Medowlands no matter how hard he tries, and he looks shaken to the core. His voice was cracking, and he couldn't even face the media. Matt Ryan and Joe Flacco had some tough games as rookies, but they never looked completely beaten like Sanchez did after that game. Even Stafford, who I think will be a stud, has had some real tough games with a team that is much worse than the Jets and he looks as confident as ever. InterSanchez is done, bust status confirmed.

I'm not trying to be mean or anything but lets you go out there and try to throw a football with 4 350+ linemen breathing down your throat. I'm a Mark Sanchez fan and I'll think he'll be ok and should still have a good year. BTW I'm not even a Jets fan.

Thats not even an argument. I was not a USC recruit who started getting compared to Joe Namath before I ever took a snap. I am just a normal dude, but as someone who is working to become an NFL scout as a career(yes, that is my dream), I see Sanchez as a bust.

You can't tell how a rookie will be just with a few games----FACT!!! So many great good/great QBs had bad rookie years. You might wanna rethink your career if you really think that way based on a few games and with your personal grudge against Sanchez. I'm not saying Sanchez will be a hall of famer, but I think to say that he's a bust is a little too early.

idk and I also dont get why they are building the new stadium right across from the current one. The West Side deal I believe it was called was canned long ago for one in Manhattan I believe, but there are other places they can put up a stadium in the 5 boroughs. One reason why I havent bothered to attend a game is because its all the way in NJ!

Question: Why is the stadium of one of the most popular NFL teams in dinky little New Jersey instead of their home state?

Tjeremiah1988

idk and I also dont get why they are building the new stadium right across from the current one. The West Side deal I believe it was called was canned long ago for one in Manhattan I believe, but there are other places they can put up a stadium in the 5 boroughs. One reason why I havent bothered to attend a game is because its all the way in NJ!

Yeah that's gotta suck, not even getting to see a game because it's in a different state.

I never meant to put that statement as an argument. And yes I agree that the Joe Namath comparisons are absurd but he's just in his rookie year and will only get better year after year. I expect him to still have a pretty good year.

The Meadowlands/Giants Stadium is still in the metropolitan area. I think...

What's absurd isn't people saying Sanchez is the next Joe Namath; it's people thinking "the next Joe Namath" is a lofty compliment.

He is the next Joe Namath. Look at the stats. Namath threw 50 more picks than TDs in his career. Sanchez is headed in the same direction.

He's a bust because of two bad games? Sheesh, what do you have against the kid...?

By the why, Peyton Manning threw 2 td's and 6 picks in his first two games as a rookie. Did you declare him a bust too?
