So most of us Lion's fans were expecting Cullpepper to get the nod.

I think this year is going to look steeler like were there is commentment to the run and he throws maybe 15 time a game. I think Daunte looked really good in the preseason and he might be a commodity that they can trade.

Whats your prediction for the new QB?

He'll have a good game maybe, then struggle. But it is worth playing him rather than Culpepper. Culpepper is garbage.

Well, didn't he get the nod only because of Culpepper's injury? [QUOTE="DaBrainz"]

If you watched any preseason games you would know that is not true. I'm not saying that he's top 10, but he's definitely better than a lot of starters out there. I think a team like Washington could use a solid QB.

Nah, he got a small cut on top of his big toe 2 weeks ago. He's able to play.

This is pathetic. Tossing Stafford out there to sell tickets, lame. Schwartz is a fool.

Preseason? Well if another team needs some guy who can win some preseason games, and then stink it up in the regular season they should pick him up ASAP.

Heh. I'm surprised Culpepper has any supporters left. I think its pretty clear at this point that's he's nothing without Cris Carter and Randy Moss to throw to. Still, he ought to be the starter. There is no point in throwing Stafford to the wolves right now. Detroit is still rebuilding and will be for quite some time.

Mark my words. Daunte is back. Don't get me wrong, I always thought he was overrated, he never was a top ten QB, but he has slimmed down and has his escapability back. He could slip into a good team that needs a QB and take them to the superbowl. Just look at all the starters in the NFL right now. I would take Cullpepper over at least ten of them without having to think about it.

I think that he'll throw a hell of a lot more than 15 times a game. May as well take the beating now. We might even see the occasional flash of brilliance. Not every QB is forever destroyed by a nightmare first season and not every QB is doomed to fail in year one. That's crap that the media likes to throw around.

Can they protect him? If he starts his career getting sacked every other play, he's gonna be a waste of talent, but like David Carr. So much potential and talent, all gone to waste because the Texans couldn't protect him.

I hate this move, too much risk for zero reward. They should start Culpepper for the first 4-8 games and ease Stafford into the starting job.

Sorry but Randy Moss plays for the Pats, they seem to have a QB. Robert Smith isn't playing anymore, and Chris Carter is busy being bitter on television.

Not sure what your arguing, but Carter and Smith were long gone when daunte threw for 36 TD (people seem to forget because of that's the year Payton went crazy) and moss only caught 13 TD that year, the only thing he did was keep defenses honest. So your saying he's complete garbage. Is germaine wiggins a HoFer? Did I miss that memo?

He is weak mentally and physically. Without Moss and a hall of fame offensive line yes he's garbage. You'd be better off just drafting some kid and rolling the dice. More so if you're Detroit.

stafford has sup par numbers in pre season. maybe he has a strong arm but he also forces throws. i still think the lions could win 3-4 games. it would be HILARIOUS if they could win 0 again...

I'm fine with it either way, some struggle then become good some struggle and never get good. I don't think it really matters if they sit out a year, plus when you're 0-16 what the hey :|

Terrible idea. I don't doubt Stafford, but he is going to get crushed game-to-game due to a seriously lacking O-line.
