As reported here...

I don't really care where Carmelo Anthony goes this year or next. But I wouldn't mind having Murph back to help with the low post rebounding and scoring!

I wish the Rockets could get him but that aint happening. The Nets are willing to give up alot for Melo it seems. Devon and Favors are some good young guys that I feel they should keep. But you got to give up something to gain something and the Nets are willing to do whatever to get Melo. If this trade goes through I wonder how this will affect Chris Paul's decision. Does he go to the Knicks or follow Melo to the Nets? Should be interesting.

Pretty much the Nets are desperate to land a franchise player they can market the **** out of. Melo is one of those players. Not trying to bash on the Nuggets but didn't care about them at all until they got Melo. If Melo leaves won't care about them once more. I am sure they will be fine, but good luck in that harsh western conference. New Jersey could be a basketball gold mine if they get the right two superstars and market the team wisely. Melo would be step one, and if they could get someone like CP3 or D-Williams away from their current teams then they would have solid foundation that could last a long time. But I just hope the Nets don't give away everything in order to get one player.

I actually wanted him to go to the Knicks instead. Having the Knicks revelant again would be big for the NBA.

They're not the laughing stock the were for the past couple of seasons. Not actually doing that bad either, feel sorry for whoever has them in the 1st round. Amar'e would be so much better if he could develop a back to the basket game. On topic though just send Melo to NY or NJ and be done with it. This has gotten dragged out to the LeBron levels of dragging out a "Where should he go?" discussion. Send him to San Antonio and let it be over with lol

I wouldn't do it if I was Melo. I mean, if they didn't get far with Vince Carter, a guy who's close to Melo's standards when he was playing with the Nets, how would he make much of a difference? Basically, Nets are just gonna be renting the guy rather than try to build something around him. Might as well stay with a team that still in playoff hunt rather than go to a team that's playing for draft picks at this point...

Good point. Who are the big free-agents that are going to be free agents soon. Paul, D. Williams, and who else?

You know... Melo is probably the most complete offensive player in the NBA. It's so rare for such a young small forward to post up and be so dominate at it. Kobe didn't start posting up still he got older. LeBron James still isn't very good at posting up yet.

Dexter_Clarke

You forget the Biggest Name: Dwight Howard

In 2011 the Free Agents class is not all that great, espically when compared to last year.... it be people like Yao Ming (DON'T LAUGH!), Glen Davis, Zach Randolph, Tony Parker.

If the Nets are able to land Carmelo, then they will be giving up a lot. The team will not be able to do much as of now, but definitely would be greatly improved. Now I know Billups contract is up at the end of next season, I believe, so that would free up some cap along with any other cap-room they might have. If the Nets can't get some other big-time player, D-Will or CP3 maybe, then I'm not sure how they plan to win.

I haven't had a chance to really see the Nets play this year, but Lopez seems to have regressed. How is he only averaging 5.7 boards a game? So I'm not sure how valuable he can be.

For the nuggets they would get alot of great pieces in return for sending anthony to the nets and if hes not going to resign with the team it would be stupid not to jump at the oppurtunity to receive 4 first roun picks and last years 3rd overall pick.

First I really hate the name "Melo Drama"...so stupid and cliche. I wish this would end just so that would end too. Anyway, I'm not a fan of Carmelo but imo I really dont think it matters if he gets traded or not. Personally I think he might end up as one of the greats that never won a championship.

He said it would be his what? 9th season next year and if he gets traded it'll take a couple years to build a championship style team around him. By then it would be his 12th or 13th season and that doesn't guarantee they would win anyway.

Staying in Denver isnt that great either. They're a sketchy team. I'd say the Knicks are probably a better fit for him at this point. They have some nice young players and Amare.

I'm exhausted from all the Anthony trade talk. Get it over with already! But from the Nets point of view... the thing that's unique with this Melo trade stuff is you rarely ever have chance to trade for a Top 10 NBA star like him. And let's actually break down what the Nets are giving up. Favors who is raw with upside. D.Harris who is going to be dealt either way by the deadline. If he's not in the Denver deal he's going to Portland in a deal. Avery Johnson is already fed up with Harris who is inconsistent and SOFT! I watch a lot of Nets games and Harris is overrated. Murphy is sitting at home waiting for a trade and has done absolutely nothing all year. And who cares about the other 'Scrubs/pieces' going to Denver.

As far as the four #1 picks go let's take a closer look at this. First of all the Nets would keep/still have THEIR #1 pick for the 2011 draft. It should be a top 10 pick and it's NOT part of the deal. The Nets would be trading #1 picks they've acquired from OTHER teams which they really fleeced in some cases from dumping their unwanted players for #'1's. Denver would be getting the Lakers, Rockets and Warriors picks along with the Nets 2012 pick(I think). And I think all picks are lottery protected for a few years. Throw in the fact that this years draft looks pretty weak and having Mid round to late round #1 picks in this draft probably won't find you a superstar and all off a sudden four #1 picks is no biggie.

So in the end the Nets are giving up a Rookie with potential in Favors, overrated D.Harris, T.Murphy's expiring contract and Four #1 picks the Nets got from other teams where none will be a top 10 pick most likely. Nets get C.Anthony and C.Billups and Pieces. Billups has one more year to go and then it's Chris Paul or D.Williams joining the party just as Jay Z and company move to Brooklyn. The Nets have close to the most salary cap room in the whole NBA.

I actually think the main reason Knicks owner Jim Dolan is so involved in this Melo deal now is because the last thing he wants is Melo, C.Paul or D.Williams... Jay Z and the Nets new owner stealing his and the Knicks thunder across town. It could happen. Remember... the only reason the Knicks got Amare S was because the Knicks were the only team willing to give him the 5th year. Players for years have been avoiding going to the Knicks. Lebron even said he was not impressed when he visited with them. Whatever happens... we will all be happy when it's over.
