I prefer Sim style Baseball games. So 2k8 is for me. Just_Osmo
I agree...and about your sig...FYI...18 Wins and 1 Giant Loss
Thanks for the replies you guys. I think right now I'm looking towards "The Show". I've tried to stay away since MVP 2005, but I've been itching for an MLB baseball game lately, and I think it's time to buy one. Thanks again!pacomontoya
You should try the demo it' really awesome. I've got it on pre-order at best-buy.
I owned MLB The show 07 for ps2 and now I want a baseball game for my ps3. Sooooo, if theres not to much of a difference between the show 07 and 08, I might wanna go with 2k8hodges_3_5
Dude....they totally upgraded the game. Check out this preview from 1UP:

I was the biggest mvp fan. Let me tell all the mvp fans that mlb the show plays almost like mvp but 100 times better. The pitching system is almost like mvp, and the batting is about like mvp. I look at mlb the show as a next generation version of mvp. I fell in love with the demo I've probably played it a 100 times already. I've noticed with the hitting is that right stick you have to move it in the area where the ball is located. In mvp you move the stick in the direction of what type of hit you want a pop fly, pull the ball, or hit the opposite way. Also in mlb the show you use the right stick to influence a pop fly or ground ball. Just helpful tips for people that were used to mvp. People with the ps3 would be stupid to choose mlb 2k8 over the show

You are looking at it with an open mind.
I can't believe more MVP fans won't give 'The Show' a chance.
I kinda like 2K8's Card-Game feature.
But I want to try the demo before I buy anything.

The demo for the 'Show' is up on PSstore. It's awesome.
Don't judge 2K8 by 2K7. 2K8 is completely overhauled. The Show will be great, but very similar to last year. 2K8's right analog stick is just beautifully used (at least in theory). Think NHL 08 vs NHL 2K8. Which one was better? NHL 08. Why? Because of the analog controls. I think MLB 2K8 will better for that same reason.TKandPBC
To me controls are secondary. You just need to get used to what-ever they are.
What bothers me about 2K is the gameplay, I get tired of the home-run derby's. The Show is adding more 'sim' features for the console like the hot and cold streak hitting feature.
I can't even get my free New Era cap yet, still has the expired promo for 07.
The game looks awesome though, I didn't have 07 so I can't compare it to that. I did have 2k7 for the 360 last year though and The Show 08 blows that one away.
Hurray for stupid Wal-Mart employees that obviously don't read the release dates on the packages. I was nervous at first that it wouldn't ring up, but it just rang up as a PS3 game, no a specific title.
Was there some promo last year that they were giving away free hats if you bought one of the games? Is that still available this year?I can't even get my free New Era cap yet, still has the expired promo for 07.

I love MLB 06 and 07 The Show for PS2, but I bought a 360 last October, so I'm kind of torn between playing a game that I know and trust on a current-gen console instead of a game that I'm not too familiar with on a next-gen console. If you have a PS3, do not hesitate, and get The Show.superbradleyo77
I would rather play 'The Show' 08 on PS2 than any 2K game this year.
Ok, so I was playing the "The Show" demo and I just don't understand the pitching too well. I know the longer it goes is for strength of pitch but is that little line it leaves, is that suppose to be for accuracy?-ZeRoHouR-I find that you want to release the power just before the yellow, which creates the line and then hit it again on the comeback for accuracy. It's hard to explain without looking at it.
I've never played a more realistic sports sim then The Show series. I'm the only one of my friends with a 360 and a ps3, everyone else I game with is picking up 2k8 for 360 tommorow, and I'm still getting The Show. That's how good this series is.dru26
i agree it is way better than the 2k series, it is the best baseball game series out there right now
I just picked up 2K8 for 360. I don't have a PS3 so the choice was easy for me. I also just redeemed by code for a free Jose Reyes bobblehead. Hopefully I can get $15 for it on Ebay.murlow12
nice is it an actual bobblehead or one of those plastic ones

It seems to be a legitimate ceramic one (based on the picture). Please Log In to post.
