For the first time, the MLB Draft will be televised.  Apparently MLB is trying to get on the coattails of the NFL's success with the draft.  I personally hate all the hype around the NFL Draft, but I'm a huge baseball fan so I'll watch.  Will you?

By the way, the draft is on in just over 30 minutes (2 PM ET) on ESPN2.

I think they should leave the draft hoopla to the NFL.   If they are going to do it on live TV . .  .why on a Thrusday afternoon?

It's not like the NFL draft where you're sure to see these guys next year.  Many of these guys you'll never see again and if you do it often isn't for a few years while they prepare in the minors.

Admittedly, this is only for the hardcore baseball fan like myself.  But for guys like me, this is much better than the NFL Draft.

The NHL Draft is broadcast live in Canada, the NFL Draft is broadcast live in the U.S.. To me, all it is is a bunch of executives of crappy teams grandstanding with the small amount of air time they get.

It was way too boring for me, plus I didn't even know any of those players.

i love that they had Darryl Strawberry there, because his character is exactly what these kids getting their big breaks need to emulate. if i was going to get advice, i would certainly want it to come from him

I don't know why they televise these things, they take hours and absolutely nothing happens that you couldn't have found out by hitting up a sports website. At least with the NFL you'll see some players that'll get some playing time, but with baseball you won't see these guys for years (hockey's pretty bad too).
