Good luck to Javier going back to the AL. Also looks like it may be tough for the Yankees to get under that 185-190 million range they wanted too, adding another 12 million dollar player.white_soxYeah, but subtract 3 million from Melky's contract.
The Mets and Dodgers must be asleep. If you can get a dominant NL pitcher for, and keep in mind I'm a Yankees fans, the Milk-Man then those GM's aren't doing their jobs. But Mets are in the same division and might have had to pay a little more but still; and Dodgers are getting screw because of a divorce.
This to me is a direct answer to the John Lackey acquisition by the Red Sox.Mister__AwesomeWhich was a direct answer to the New York Yankees winning the World Series.
[QUOTE="Mister__Awesome"]This to me is a direct answer to the John Lackey acquisition by the Red Sox.Master_LiveWhich was a direct answer to the New York Yankees winning the World Series. Exactly! We still need find a way to get Jason Bay or acquire Adrian Gonzalez because it is pretty even comparing the pitching staffs, but hitting is in the Yanks favor.
As a Braves fan I really dislike this trade. Vazquez was their best pitcher last year, and I know they were going to trade one, I was hoping it was Lowe. Cabrera is no upgrade in the outfield, hopefully they'll sign someone else to put out there.geaux321Unfortunately, nobody would take Lowe. I was hoping they could keep Vazquez as well, but I'm at least going to wait until after they spend the rest of their money before judging this trade.
[QUOTE="GrindingAxe"]Braves lose in this trade. Javier was 4th in the Cy Young voting while Melky did what.... Hit 13 homers? Frank Wren has done good things while being the GM in Atlanta, but this isn't one of them. Good news though.....Braves did sign Troy Glaus to play 1st base. If healthy he can help big time.NetYankEagleyou obviously have not seen melky play if you only having 13 homeruns means you suck. Where in my post did I say he sucked? Yeah, didn't think so. Apology accepted. What I was trying to say is that the trade was uneven. I don't think thats debatable at all. Lets see, a pitcher who posted a 2.87 ERA, struck out 238 batters and pitched 219 innings for a guy who hit around .270, 68 RBIs and 13 homers in 158 games. Oh yeah, and your boy hit only 13 homers in Yankee Stadium. That translates to about 6 homers in Turner Field.
