Going to be a great race in the AL East, and second should also take WC as they usually do. 5th place could have a winning record.
Solid pickup. Great offensive numbers last year, and if he's DH, should be no problem.

There's no way Baltimore finishes above .500
AL East is brutal though. You have 3 legit contenders, and Toronto would probably contend in any other division.
The orioles put some thump in their lineup this offseason. You got Vlad and they also signed Mark Reynolds earlier in the offseason. The modern day Rob Deer. Sure he'll bat .230 and strike out 200 times, but he'll also hit you 40 home runs and drive in 100 rbi's, and that was in the NL west where you had to play in ballparks like SD, SF, and LA. Not the ban boxes that camden yards, fenway and tropicana are. I don't know who's gonna pitch for them, but they'll be fun to watch hit.

With their pitching staff, ya I agree about Baltimore despite what I said. But their offense is a lot better IMO. And yes, Toronto would be a contender in any other division.Quote of the year, but yeah it's going to be a great divisional chase this upcoming season and I'm kind of surprised Texas just let him go like that. IMO he was a big reason of why they went to the WS last year. The AL east is an arms race... and the Yankees are bring knifes.

Big whoop, no way in hell is he going to repeat last season's production. Nothing to see here, move along.

Baltimore had a way better offseason than the best team money can buy, with a full year under Showalter, under .500? :|[QUOTE="TaCoDuDe"][QUOTE="JohnBean42"]

Derrek Lee is their best pickup, JJ Hardy is a very average player, Mark Reynolds is pretty bad. That's not a signficant upgrade over an team offense with an OPS of .702 and an OBP of .316.
The Yankees have a great lineup, a solid bullpen, and a lot of question marks for starting pitchers. The Orioles got better sure, but they have a long way to go. .500 might be the ceiling for this team.
Their starting lineup will have a healthy brian roberts, nick markakis, adam jones, d lee, vlad, reynolds (who will hit 40 hr's even though he'll K 200 times) and wieters at catcher. They will put up plenty of runs this year. It's all on their young staff, If showalter has any more magic in him and get that staff to produce, i could def see them making a run for a .500 record

Tampa Bay isn't a contender anymore. They lost half their team to free agency . So what, they got Manny and Damon, two guys who are washed out and past their prime.
I still have faith that the blue Jays willbe third in the confrence even though they signed Jose Bautista to a horrible deal.
