I like the Angels, Weaver/Haren/Wilson and Santana is a formidable rotation and with the addition of Pujols and return of Kendry Morales their offense looks adequate.
I think it will be between the Angels and Rangers. I know the Angels got better, but the offense of the Rangers keeps them in contention and if Darvish can play well, they should end up winning it again IMO.
As a long time Rangers fan, I'm kind of excited about them coming in under the radar. Everyone is talking about the Angels, because of Pujols, which is understandable.
Even losing CJ, Yu Darvish is the real deal. ZIPS is projecting him to go 13-7 with a 3.63 ERA, and his sabermetric stats look even better (high strikeout rate, low walk rate, doesn't rely on his defense to be good).
Josh Hamilton had a down 2011, and Nelson Cruz was hurt most of they year until the playoffs. You saw how he did in October. There's no way Napoli will have as good of a year as he did last season, but I think he can still be an elite hitting catcher.
It's going to be a much closer race (Texas has won the division by 10 games the last two seasons), but the Angels don't have the fielding and offense that the Rangers have.
The Angels have an advantage in pitching (obviously), but it's not nearly as big as analysts have made it seem.
I'm with you, I think it'll be a two-horse race in the AL West just like last year. I have the Rangers winning it again and I strongly believe that CJ Wilson leaving is a blessing in disguise. I love the guy but he doesn't perform very well in big moments. And I expect Yu Darvish to have a nice year along with the rest of the starting pitchers. As for the hitters, they will continue to do what they do best, knock it out of the park. It'll be a tougher division but I have the Rangers winning by at least 3 games at the end of the year.As a long time Rangers fan, I'm kind of excited about them coming in under the radar. It's really between the Angels and Rangers barring a real surprise. For me it'd kinda depend on what somewhat unkown commodites and contribute down the stretch. Like Mike Trout, and Kendrys Morales for the Angels, and Joe Nathan, and Yu Darvis for the Rangers.
The division winner has either been the Texas Rangers or the Los Angeles Angels over the past five seasons, the Oakland Athletics and the Seattle Mariners look to at least make things interesting with their revamped and younger lineups. but i think Angels are going to win this.
The Rangers just can't keep living off of hitting. I see the Angles as the best team and should win.

They don't just live off of hitting. They had a team ERA of 3.79 last year, 5th best in the AL. Their road ERA was 3.19, best in all of MLB.
