As long as Stafford stays healhty, i see them as a major contender against the Packers and Bears in the division. Might even be better than the Bears
Megatron, Burleson and Pettigrew are good weapons for Stafford. And that Defense is no slouch either with Suh tearing through Offensive lines..
Wait till Fairley and Alphonso Smith is bak in the mix. Lions have drafted well.
Didn't you post the exact same thing a year ago? Is your plan to keep doing the same thing year after year, until the Lions eventually do manage to reach the Superbowl, at which point you'll bump the topic from several months ago with a boisterous "I TOLD YOU SO"?
EDIT: yep, found it.
Ah, early Super Bowl predictions, how I've missed you.
Seriously, they could contend, but I'll wait before making honest predictions.

Someone being sensible about early season playoff predictions? I think that's one of the seven signs of the apocalypse.
Slow your role, TC, Detroit's won like what, seven games in the past seventeen games? You're not even at .500 yet for the current and past season combined, and I'm being nice by not mentioning the two seasons before that. Detroit has everything to prove, and I'm not going to start picking them to make the playoffs until they start consistently beating top-tier teams. They're on the cusp, but it's all talk until they actually do something.

Beating Tampa Bay isn't a bad start. :P I want them to do well but I am cautious about taking about the playoffs just yet.everyone is among peyton manning cause he probably wont even play this year.I think of Matthew Stafford as an elite quarterback in the NFL.
If he stays healthy throughout the season, i know his stats will be good enought to be among the Top 5 QB's (excluding peyton Manning this season)

Was Tampa overhyped or was Detroit dominant, or a bit of both? There were teams in that lost in week one last year that I thought were strong at the time and turned out to be pretty week, and ones that seemed pretty weak but turned out pretty strong. Minnesota's week one loss, for instance, in hindsight wasn't, such a great omen for New Orleans. Same thing with Dallas, looked like a huge win for the Bears at the time but they turned out being not such a great team at the end of the season. Now both teams went to the playoffs, so maybe that does bode well for the Lions, but you can't blame people for being skeptical.
Right. And the Packers will forfeit their games. /sarcasmThe-ApostleWhy is that ever since winning the super bowl most Packers fans seem very arrogant? Just a reminder, Detroit beat Green Bay last year. Even though The Packers were without Rodgers, the Lions were without Stafford.

With that defense they displayed last week I wouldn't be making such bold claims.[QUOTE="The-Apostle"]Right. And the Packers will forfeit their games. /sarcasmThe-Apostle
Aaron Rodgers has really gotten cocky since winning the Superbowl. Anyone see his post game conference where he took a shot at Drew Brees and the Saints getting together for off season work outs.
But I do think that he shows confidence and believes that he is an elite QB, also the media was scrutinizing the Packers for not getting together in the off season to workout.

Which one? Its on NFL.com anyways if there are issues.
The NifL one. It looked like the vid was longer than the allotted time, so that could be the issue...So... how is that statement relevant to this topic?Lay off the weed. It messes with your mind.

Well I think Minnesota will be a decent test. On the road against a decent and improving Vikings team will be though. They seemed to be unable to stop Charles for the short amount of time he was in the game. Let's see if the Lions can contain AP. then they have the Cowboys at home and week 5 is their Monday night game against the Bears. I say by the time week 5 is over with we'll have a prety good idea of how well this Lions team will hold up.after two weeks, this is seeming a little more serious! Give me another month or so and I'll agree that they could be at least in the playoffs!

What's wrong with being arrogant when he likes the Packers? The team with the most championships in pro football? As opposed to being an arrogant fan of a Big Ten team that always flops in bowl games.X360PS3AMD05Are you really calling me arrogant? because I have said nothing that would be considered arrogant. Either you are just childishly trying to insult me or you actually do not know the meaning of the word. Also, I love the jab at Michigan, who I assume you're talking about sine its in my signature, when this topic is about the NFL. Sorry I don't jump teams when my team is doing bad. I'm actually a real fan.
Me? Arrogant? Just because I like the team with the most championships? Hardly. When the Rams left I needed a new favorite team. That team was the Packers, whom I had already started to like five years before the Rams left. I've liked them for 22 years. I've been a fan for 17. Through good times and bad. I grew up with them, I've stood by them. That's not being arrogant. That's being a fan.

You just admitted to being a fairweather fan. It's not loyalty if the only reason you're being loyal is because they've managed to have a great quarterback for the past seventeen years. And yes, it is arrogant to jump on the bandwagon of the team with the most championships and then go around rubbing other people's faces in it. If you're a real fan then fine, but you're just jumping on the bandwagon so that you can rub people's faces in it.
Oh, and you still don't have as many HoFers as us.

Right. I believe I said I've liked them for 21 years. BEFORE Favre. My jumping ship to the Packers had nothing to do with Favre or the Packers' history. It had everything to do with the Rams leaving. I can't help it if their departure coincided with Favre's rise as the QB of the Packers. If the Rams had left before Favre they still would've ended up my favorite team. Hell, if Favre had stayed with the Falcons or if they had traded him to the Rams then the Packers would've still been my favorite team.
And I'm not rubbing anybody's nose in anything. Another user called me arrogant. I was responding.
Lions. I mean...they've done pretty well so far this season, it was a really close one last week that they should have lost except the Vikings forget that football has two halfs, not one and couldn't contain/hold/beat the Lions. So we'll see what happens when the Lions face harder teams...will they hold or fall apart?
Tampa Bay isn't a bad team by any means so it's not like we only beat 3 easy teams.Lions. I mean...they've done pretty well so far this season, it was a really close one last week that they should have lost except the Vikings forget that football has two halfs, not one and couldn't contain/hold/beat the Lions. So we'll see what happens when the Lions face harder teams...will they hold or fall apart?

What's that I hear about the Bears and Eagles being better?
Lions WILL make it to the playoffs, no doubt. Superbowl? Yeah, not sure about that.
We have too many weapons on offense. CJ, Pettigrew, Burleson, Young.
4-0 baby. We've won three straight road games. BELIEVE. Oh, and to anyone that's ever made fun of me for being a Lion's fan, go F yourself. Same to the fair weather fans.
