Finally, its here today and we can all get started on (probably our only) NBA season. My player mode is the big selling point for me in this game and it would appear it has received attention and things that I wish weren't in 2k11 are not fixed or gone. Will give further update as I get further into the game. Anyone else played it yet?

Got a chance to play it last night during GameStop's Midnight Launch party. I got a chance to play 2 qrts and must say its good. The flow of the game seems improved. I still have beef with the passing game especially playing the AI. I actually might get this game for $60 instead of waiting for a price drop. It will be the 1st game this gen I buy for full price.

First time playing a game... This has never happened ever in my past 5 years of 2k games. My PG got a hand on a shot from a player under the basket and the ball went through the hoop from below.

And it was actually called "Ball went through under the rim" or something like that and it was a turnover for the other team.

I just found it really surprising. I dunno if this has happened in other 2K's but its the first time I've seen it... in the rookie showcase no less!

It's awesome. I really love the presentation in the cIassic teams mode...everything down to the score, the game clock, and stat overlays have a retro look to them. I was playing the Wilt Chamberlain one and it had this really ugly yellow shadowed text just like they used in the 70s.

I forget to mentioned that I notice the game took awhile to load. 2K games usally load fast so what happen here? Oh a reviewer said it doesn't have crew mode anymore? I never played a full game of it in 2K11 due to server issues. Also I thought it was lame you could only be on one crew team. The reviewer also said "While we can only hope that a settlement will allow all the new rookies and updated rosters to be patched in," Thats messed up.

5 games deep into My Player mode and really liking all the improvements. The broadcast team of Kellog, Ker and what his face is a lot better this year and they actually do well playing off each other to give info on players and coaches. 2K really stepped up their presentation this year. Now we get commercials for up and coming games, updates on games being played by other teams (such as Dwight Howard has scored 29 points heading into the fourth qaurter against the Pacers), you get to see a lot better intros for players, and even the cheerleaders seem alive and not just complete robots this year. I haven't come across any cheese moves that gaurantee a score yet, so that is a plus. AI actually passes the ball more this year, so I just don't sit there for 20 seconds to see my AI PG chuck up a off balance shot.

So about 7 games into my first season of my player mode, my team the Jazz traded Devin Harris for Ruday Gay !? How the hell would that be possible since 1. Gay just signed a long contract extension with the Grizz. 2. You never see these major trades happen the first two weeks of the season. 3. Gay for Harris is such a bad trade for the Grizz I can't believe they actually excepted it. Well, the Grizz's loss is my team's gain.

I read the new rookies aren't in it, which is a huge disappointment to me, but I understand why. Association mode is the reason I buy the game and without the rookies, it would reduce the experience a lot.

The game and presentation is great but the only thing I hate about this game is the shooting, my player is maxed out and still bricks shots when I get him wide open. Have no idea how to fix it, i try different releases and it sill misses. I go 3-13 on average. I played 2k11 and was a great shooter in that but the mechanics in 2k12 is just frustrating and I still havent figured it out.

So other than that I stick to stripping the ball and just going on fast breaks to get my points.

And is it just me or Dirk Nowitzki makes every single shot he takes? Seriously, I got drafted by the Mavs and just watch this dude make shots in all game.

Yeah, I'm on a cold shooting streak right now. I was averaging about 53% shooting, but over the last 3 games I am down to 30%. Don't know why, unless this is how the computer balances out shooting percentages. My team is improving and now am having fun with the smartass and stuck up interview replys after the game. Although, I am turning into a defensive stopper so there is that. All Rookie team here I come. Time to go shut down Kobe and D-Wade.

After playing this for a while I feel like passing is broken. I hate when I have a 2 on 1 fastbreak because the computer ALWAYS intercepts my pass. I know Pick n Roll was overpowered in previous 2k games but this year it's ****ing impossible to do one.

I can't justify buying an NBA game if there isn't even going to be a season this year.

Make the CPU commit to you and then dish it off, and try different agles towards the basket before you dish it off.

word on the passing is broken. I feel it's so much slower this year and CPU is almost ALWAYS catching up with the players on fast breaks. They also need to implement a user controlled bounce pass, that would help so much more. I don't want the CPU to decide for me when it's time to throw a bounce pass to a player

This is my first 2k game as I normally have played NBA live. I like this game for the graphics and overall presentation, but the My Player mode downright pisses me off. It seems like the AI on my own team often turns the ball over (no matter which team I am drafted to), but rarely gets steals themselves. They will jump up and shoot the ball into the bottom of the backboard when I dish it down low, but the AI on the opposing team never does that. Blocks on layup attempts are far too frequent, passing is downright terrible, and the player grading system is not very good. You get marks against your player score just for letting the player you are guarding score, but sometimes it is impossible to prevent. For instance, guarding Kobe, or Paul Pierce for 4 quarters. Also, sometimes when players get bunched your assigned man switches to someone that should have been picked up by someone else, and you get dinged for the basket instead. Rebounding is also very frustrating. It seems like no matter how well I position myself for an offensive rebound, I get stuck against someone that shoves me back then I get called for over the back. Also, on the defensive end, I get out rebounded by point guards on my own team even when I have better position at times. It just doesn't make sense. Steal attempts are laughable at times as your player drunkenly stumbles 20 feet further than necessary. Lastly, the shooting is not very good either. You are supposed to release the ball right when the circle flashes, not after you see it, but as it flashes. This is impossible. You have to anticipate when it is going to flash in order to stand a chance at a perfect release. Sigh...this is still a good game, but there are lots of little irritating things like this that prevent it from being stellar. For me it is a 7 when it could have been a 9.5-10.

Your arguements are true but NBA Live has been way more flawed since NBA Live made its debut on PS2 back in Jan 2011. Also, the shooting i think is based on the player animation. This system doesn't work for alot players. I mean in 2K11 i had the1997/98 Utah Jazzand Jeff Horneck shot animation is flawed.

"CPU is almost ALWAYS catching up with the players on fast breaks" lol, thats been a problem in baskeball(and football) games for a long time. It almost as if attributes don't matter as I always find it baffling that Yao Ming can catch up to Lebron James on a fastbreak. Sports games need to take it the next level.

Seriously. What impressive leaps have sports games made this generation other than better graphics?

Hell, I don't think the graphics are impressive. I'm sure PS3/360 can do better that.
