I've been going back and forth on sports games this year. I'm not a hockey fan but at this point I just want a game that i'm going to enjoy. Which game is really a classic? Kind of sick of buying games and being disapointed, so not being a hockey fan doesnt necessarily deter me. I've played 2k basketball games and played 2k9 so i know what to expect.
To be honest, they are the best two sports games in over 10 years imo. As far as hockey and bball go, these two are great, realistic games with alot of depth.
NHL 09, easily the best sports game I've played in years. I don't doubt NBA 2k9 is bad, but I'm a bigger fan of the NHL than the NBA which is just so uninteresting these days.
But if your not a hockey fan, just a casual one, and you get NHL 09, get ready to be in hell because the AI is top notch and have to work plays to get goals
Download the demo for NHL 09 and play it for a little while. If you're still interested, then I HIGHLY suggest that you give NHL 09 a try this year. It's incredible fun for diehard hockey fans as well as newcomers.
Huge Bball fan talking who can't get the whole NBA 2K thing though, I didn't like the 08 version, it looks better than Live but I hate the controls...
I bought NHL 09 a month or so ago. Man it is so freaking great. Hard to score goals though... hardly get 2 per game. My friend gets like 5-6 a game, don't know how he does it.
without a doubt ive have to say the best sports game is nhl 09. I have friends who arent even into to sports games that love it. So far its the only game i have gotten sicken of and ive been playin it steady stince 08 came out . 2k9 is also a great game as well as mlb the show.
