Can we all agree if cp3 gets traded to the magic or knicks that the east will be stronger then the west. o.o

Ive always thought the East was stronger than the West. Not just now because of the Heat but because theyve had the better teams for years now.
Orlando made it to Finals the previous season, Cavs had the best record two straight years, the Celtics won the Championship two years ago and made it back to Finals this year and Miami has always had D-Wade.
Its obvious the only good team in the West is the Lakers. They've been to the Finals 3 straight years now and won repeat championships.
The East has gotten stronger. Too bad the majority of the East sucks making the "good teams" look better than they actually are.
If you look at last year's Western Conference points finish, during the last couple of weeks the point differential between third place and tenth place was a few games. Whereas the only "race" in the East was for eighth place between 8th and 9th. But the differential between 7th and 8th or 9th and 10th was not even competitive.
The West was, is and will continue to be the more dominant conference. Sure, an east team will the nba championship, but it didn't have to through 4 rounds of West teams to do it not to mention the majority of a regular season.
Even with the Heat, that only leaves the Magic and Celtics as 3 of the major players in the NBA. Then look at the West... the West is still stacked.

I'm not really sure how you can say that. If you compare the top 4 teams from each conference, then you could make a case that the top 4 teams in the east were better than the top 4 in the west...but if you compare conferences from top to bottom, there's no way the east was better than the west.
The east was very top-heavy but after those elite teams at the top the quality of teams fell off really quick. The west had 10 or 11 very good teams with the Lakers being the best of those teams.
East has better players, their superstars are younger and at their prime. Thus winning the Allstar game this past year.
West has better Teams, even the 9th & 10th can make playoffs in the East conf. From top down the seeds their all balance with roster and talent, but just doesnt have what it takes to beat Lakers. Is just that the superstars on the West are getting old and seen better days. However they are still better and well the West team won the last two finals.
If Paul leaves than I may most likely change my opinion.

Good post, and agreed 100%.
The west seems to be getting weaker and weaker. Who do they have out there that will do a lot of damage in the playoffs? Lakers are the only team I can think of. Sure the Blazers, Jazz, Spurs, and Rockets can have good regular seasons, but that doesn't really mean much in the playoffs. Can we all agree if cp3 gets traded to the magic or knicks that the east will be stronger then the west. o.o

The East has steadily been getting stronger but its too early to say. The East has more teams that are actually serious contenders but the West is filled with quality 50+ win ball clubs

The West might have teams with better records but just because the west has better overall records doesn't meam they're better than the East. Just means theyre good enough to secure a playoff spot whereas the east 7th and 8th seem to have to shoe their way in.
If you can't beat the top 3-4 teams in your conference your no better than the team under you.
So far the Lakers have beaten everyone that comes their way for 3 straight years. The East have more championship contenders. The Magic, Celtics and Heat (now that the Cavs have to start over). Thats 2 more contenders more than the West has (for now anyway, until someone beats the Lakers).
To me, the more true contenders you have the stronger your conference. East - Magic, Celtics, Heat...West - Lakers. Pretty uneven isn't it?
you can make the playoffs in the east and not even be above .500. Not only that but if you want to include top heavy teams Lakers have beat the Celtics and Magic two years in a row. In the West you actually have a battle in the 1st round against good teams whereas the top heavy teams get to play the Bobcats, Hawks and BucksandyboiiiThose teams are solid
I think east is filled mostly with the stars but west with the overall better teams...though the jazz, suns and hornets have or will get worse.
The lakers basically run the conference now.
5-8 seeds in the West last season : Utah, Portland, San Antonio, Oklahoma City, all very strong teams with 50 wins.
5-8 seeds in the East : Miami, Milwaukee, Charlotte, Chicago, not bad teams by any means, but would get destroyed by any team in the West's 5-8.
It's not even close.
It WILL be closer this year, but not that much. Orlando, Miami and Boston will be great, but the rest? Not so much.
