Do you think it was right for them to fine him 100k?
I do, what he said was totally out of line and I actually thought the letter was a fake when I came upon it.

What I found funny was his response to the growing number of Cavalier fans who wanted to contribute money to pay the fine.. he told them that he would pay the fine out of his own pocket and that the money they would have put towards the fine should go to charity. So there you go.. now both incredibly egotistical free agent decision TV shows AND childish insult laden owner rants are both OK because money is going to charity! I wonder what other ridiculous bullcrap we can excuse with the "but its going to charity" defense, hmm..

I don't hear charities complaining. :P
Ive never seen a GM react that way to their superstar leaving. He is just mad that his money maker is gone. He played there for SEVEN YEARS, I dunno how many of you have had jobs that you've had for seven years cause I know I haven't. And usuaully when you leave fromsomething that you've been doingso long, you get a "thank you for your time" or "I wish the best of luck to you". Histone sounded like he thought heOWNEDLeBron, which is why I understood where Jesse Jackson was coming from.
hell no they shouldnt fine him...freedom of speech! and **** Lebron for that rediculous special...there was absolutely NO need for that...
the HEAT are gonna run the NBA though...unless one of the big 3 gets hurt..then they are SCREWED
Uh, no. Jesse Jackson wasn't even close to on point. Again, of course the owner will be upset if his star player leaves. He made the organization a ton of money, but he also quit on the team, handled the whole free agency process the wrong way and embarrassed the city.Ive never seen a GM react that way to their superstar leaving. Hey guys what happened during the special that is causing so many people to be mad at it?Ugalde-
The fact that the special was held at all is the reason.
Destroyed Cleveland hearts on national TV basically.
I don't know who wrote that but I thought it was extremely on point : "When your best attempt at helping your superstar consists of signing a way-past-his-prime 38 years old Shaq, it's no wonder your superstar will leave you".
Now I'm not defending LeBron's decision nor the way he did it, which I thought was cruel, but I wasn't surprised by it. Clevelanders have a great reason to be mad, but they should be mad at Mike Brown, Danny Ferry and Dan Gilbert for running this team so crappily.
Especially when Dan Gilbert is dumb enough to think that his Cavaliers will win a championship before LeBron does. I don't think the Heat will win this year, but I don't think the Cavs will win 30 games this year either.
I have no problem with the NBA fining Gilbert. It's on par with what they've done in the past. People just need to get over the LBJ making the stupid mistake of "The Decision". Yea, it wasn't the appropriate venue to announce his departure, but it's happened. Hate him all you want (you know who you are---there's been a few in particular in these forums who've taken shots at him everysingle timefor any reason)for that, but let's face it, he wanted to win and play with his friends. There's nothing wrong with that. No big caliber free agents go to Cleveland. He gave that city 7 great years of prosperity and they act like a jilted ex-gf.
