Really... I know people said they couldn't beat the Lakers but they didn't have Malone and Payton (who actually did a good job contributing) and I really think the West teams this year are WAY better than that Laker team and the Pistons aren't as good as they were. I have to go with the Mavs because they are a force right now. My team is the Jazz and I could see them making some noise in the playoffs but I don't know if they could take the Mavs in four games... They would need a full-stength Boozer if that was to happen. So yeah, right now, it's the Mavs without a doubt.

Realistically I'd have to pick the Mavericks just as long as they stay healthy and consistent during the playoffs but then again the Suns are right up there when they get Nash back so its still a toss up.  If I'd have to pick a team from the East it would either be the Pistons or Bulls only thing is the Bulls have been inconsistent but either one would have the best chance of winning.

Right now, the Mavs and the Pistons are the two best teams in the NBA.

However, the Heat are just getting healthy and should be a force come playoff time since they are the defending champs.

The Rockets and the Pacers are quietly having good seasons, who I think will have an impact in each of the respective conferences come playoffs.

Are you serious? The Suns are 0-2 against the Mavs w/ Nash! I know they have a chance because they are a good team but the Mavs can do more than just "touch" the Suns in the playoffs. It would be a good matchup for sure but I think the Mavs are the team to beat in the NBA. Period!

Dallas will take this. SA is aging. The Suns just aren't built for the playoffs, although now that Amare is healthy, they could pull it out. Detroit doesn't have an answer to Dirk and Miami might be able to pull it off again but I just think Dallas is better this year.

I think it will be the Mavs this year. Top team in the west and the NBA. While I think they're offense isn't as great as Phoenix's, they have a better defense. Being able to play well on both sides of the game is what I think gives them an advantage over the Suns.

Really... I know people said they couldn't beat the Lakers but they didn't have Malone and Payton (who actually did a good job contributing) and I really think the West teams this year are WAY better than that Laker team and the Pistons aren't as good as they were. As of now, the Pistons would have an easier road to the NBA Finals being in the East.

That's great but making the NBA Finals isn't winning it. Regardless of how easy it is to make it there in the East you still have to beat a Western team and I think that team will be Dallas, which I don't see Detroit beating.

Thats the thing for the Mavs, have to go possibly through Spurs, Suns, Lakers, Jazz, etc..., and if they make it through that, they will have gone through a long tough battle which might hinder them a bit. Not to mention, being great in the regular season does not mean nothing in the playoffs.

Depends. If the Suns can remain healthy throughout the playoffs, and are able to run their offense, they will most likely win. The Spurs have a lot of older players, but it's not like they won't stand a chance, either. If their defense can slow teams like the Suns down, they might stand a chance. The Mavericks do have a great chance, but it really depends on whether Dirk can keep it together, and if the rest of the team can help instead of Dirk carrying the load. If Yao can get healthy and stay healthy, then the Rockets stand a chance.

As for the East, if the Pistons keep playing as well as they have, and Webber can keep playing as well as he is now, then they do stand a chance. The Heat also stand a good chance, if Shaq gets healthy and can contribute to the team, and if Wade can play as well as he did last year.

Dirk, this year, has really showed his leadership skills specific ly when they started the season 0-4. I heard in reports he would talk to the team in practice and he always preaches the team motto, finish. Josh Howard is a main reason for the mavs success this season. I think he should have originally been on the all-star team, he deserved it. The Mavs just need that 3rd scorer to stay consistant whether it is JET or Stack. As for the suns, it all relies on Steve Nash's health. The Phoenix Suns, my second favorite team, had a great surprize in Stodamire being the player he is. If Steve Nash can stay healthy look for the Mavs-Suns west final repeat. Now the problem i have with the spurs is the inconsistency this season at home. Also, most of the spurs are in their 10 th plus season like Horry, Finley, Duncan, Barry, and Bowen. Tony Parker needs to stay healthy along with Tim Duncan to make a West run.:D

In the west I see the Mavs making it. The east is the Pistons to lose. With D. Wade's potentially season ending injury, and the way the Pistons are playing right now. I see the Mavs and the Pistons in the finals.

Im not sure who is going to win the Finals, but the Eastern Conference I'm sure, The Pistons. Let's face it, who is in their way? Miami's season is done, they are already a bubble team, and they just lost Wade for possibly the whole season. Magic is young and unexperienced and they just got a whupping by Detroit. Pacers wont be able to get anywhere if they get in the playoffs. Lebron has no backup available with his team, his team is poor offensively and they are slow. Same goes for Raps as I said with Pacers. The only obstacles that stand in Motowns way is Chicago and Washington. But Detroit has real postseason experience, I think the only reason they have a worse record this year is that they are taking it easier this year. I think they have learnt their lesson, after winning so many games last year, they were burned out in the playoffs. But not this year, they will have enough energy to contend for the title. I cant wait for the playoffs! My Finals prediction goes to Dallas in 6 tho.
