As of right now - I see the Pistons.mrgab
Really... I know people said they couldn't beat the Lakers but they didn't have Malone and Payton (who actually did a good job contributing) and I really think the West teams this year are WAY better than that Laker team and the Pistons aren't as good as they were. I have to go with the Mavs because they are a force right now. My team is the Jazz and I could see them making some noise in the playoffs but I don't know if they could take the Mavs in four games... They would need a full-stength Boozer if that was to happen. So yeah, right now, it's the Mavs without a doubt.
Realistically I'd have to pick the Mavericks just as long as they stay healthy and consistent during the playoffs but then again the Suns are right up there when they get Nash back so its still a toss up. If I'd have to pick a team from the East it would either be the Pistons or Bulls only thing is the Bulls have been inconsistent but either one would have the best chance of winning.
Right now, the Mavs and the Pistons are the two best teams in the NBA.
However, the Heat are just getting healthy and should be a force come playoff time since they are the defending champs.
The Rockets and the Pacers are quietly having good seasons, who I think will have an impact in each of the respective conferences come playoffs.
the mavs cant touch the suns in the playoffs with a healthy steve nash.Me-Ur-Daddy
Are you serious? The Suns are 0-2 against the Mavs w/ Nash! I know they have a chance because they are a good team but the Mavs can do more than just "touch" the Suns in the playoffs. It would be a good matchup for sure but I think the Mavs are the team to beat in the NBA. Period!

As of now, the Pistons would have an easier road to the NBA Finals being in the East.[QUOTE="nickdastick"][QUOTE="mrgab"]As of right now - I see the Pistons.mrgab

Regardless of how easy it is to make it there in the East you still have to beat a Western team and I think that team will be Dallas, which I don't see Detroit beating.[QUOTE="mrgab"][QUOTE="nickdastick"][QUOTE="mrgab"]As of right now - I see the Pistons.RR88

Thats the thing for the Mavs, have to go possibly through Spurs, Suns, Lakers, Jazz, etc..., and if they make it through that, they will have gone through a long tough battle which might hinder them a bit. Not to mention, being great in the regular season does not mean nothing in the playoffs.Dirk, this year, has really showed his leadership skills specific ly when they started the season 0-4. I heard in reports he would talk to the team in practice and he always preaches the team motto, finish. Josh Howard is a main reason for the mavs success this season. I think he should have originally been on the all-star team, he deserved it. The Mavs just need that 3rd scorer to stay consistant whether it is JET or Stack. As for the suns, it all relies on Steve Nash's health. The Phoenix Suns, my second favorite team, had a great surprize in Stodamire being the player he is. If Steve Nash can stay healthy look for the Mavs-Suns west final repeat. Now the problem i have with the spurs is the inconsistency this season at home. Also, most of the spurs are in their 10 th plus season like Horry, Finley, Duncan, Barry, and Bowen. Tony Parker needs to stay healthy along with Tim Duncan to make a West run.:D
