The Wizards have just been in terrible shape all year. To go with the poor record that has been WELL below some expectations and the unfortanate loss of their owner, something like this takes place. They say when it rains, it pours, and I think that sums up the Washington Wizards' season well at this point. I'm curious to know how the NBA will handle this.

ESPN announced that having a gun in DC outside of your home is a felony carrying a minimum sentence of 5 years. Looks like someone may have topped Plaxico in the longest, most pointless prison sentence served by an athlete.
this has been all over sports radio over here for the last few weeks, just not the EXACT details involving Crittenton. There were reports of Gilbert keeping guns in the locker room. It's actually good to see that this is the reason for the guns, because there was another rumor floating around the DC area that was kind of scary if you think of it. I'm not sure how many of you all heard this, but there were reports that Shaq was creeping with Gilbert Arenas' fiancee (that was apparently the final nail in the coffin with Shaq's marriage once his wife found out). And the first rumors of him having a gun in his locker surfaced right around the time Cleveland played the Wiz in DC back in late November. So of course you had a lot of callers on sports radio throwing their theories out there that it wasn't a "coincidence" that he happened to have guns in his locker when Cleveland and Shaq came to town. I never bought all that but it's still scary to think about it like that. Either way there's been a lot of smoke over Gilbert this year, on and off the court. If the Wiz could find ANYONE to take on his contract i think it's a safe bet they'd trade him in a heartbeat
is anyone running for Mayor over there?ESPN announced that having a gun in DC outside of your home is a felony carrying a minimum sentence of 5 years. Looks like someone may have topped Plaxico in the longest, most pointless prison sentence served by an athlete.

[QUOTE="sixringz1"] I dont know about all that and Shaq but yes, D.C is rather a dangerous place to roam. Yeah i didn't buy into that one either, but it was something that was talked about on local radio on more than one occasssion. It wasn't just some random story i heard word of mouth from some friend. It was an interesting theory. Glad to see it wasn't that. What's a guy with a 100 million dollar contract doing betting with a guy who is probably making the league minimum at this point and will be lucky to be in the D league next year. Gambling rule number one, always bet withe someone of equal financial status because the wins and losses mean the same to each person. Crittenton isn't dumb, he knows his bball money is gonna be running out soon. If he gambles with someone worth 100 mill you can bet he aint just gonna let it slide, he wants his money. [QUOTE="Seabas989"]Well at this rate he might, or someone else...Yeah I was like wth when I heard about this. Seriously not a good year to be a Wizards fan. :(
At least he didn't shoot himself accidently.
duxup
I don't think he is that stupid now that everyone in the country knows.
But I think it's too late for him to get away with it without a trial. Sucks because he is finally healthy and is actually not doing so bad this season. But then this happens. :?

He pulled a gun on a teammate ... over a gambling debt.... in a locker room of teammates... at a job where he makes tons of money.Yeah he is stupid, maybe even that stupid.

He didn't kill anyone. That's what I mean whe I say he's not that stupid to kill someone. And since everyone in the country knows, I'm sure he wouldn't do something that low.
Just so you know I'm not defending his actions.
EDIT: I don't think Arenas is taking this case seriously enough after rereading through that article.

He'd just threaten to do so .... produce the tool to do so... and point it at someone.... That doesn't bode well for your argument.[QUOTE="Seabas989"][QUOTE="duxup"] He pulled a gun on a teammate ... over a gambling debt.... in a locker room of teammates... at a job where he makes tons of money.

You seemed to indicate he wouldn't be stupid enough to shoot himself or someone else. I would argue he has demonstrated all the intelligence and judgment skills (or lack of them) to do just that. And to think these guys are getting paid millions upon millions of dollarsand still theyact like criminals.
This is one of the reasons I don't care for the NBA anymore. It's becoming filled by gangster wanna-bes that don't do it for the love of the game anymore, just for the money. Maqda7
Yes because this one incident represents the entire NBA...In every league, sport, w/e, there will always be that one *******. This "NBA has a thug image and that is why I dont watch" nonsense has to stop.
Idk, im going on a loooonnng shot here, call me crazy but I believe people who say stuff like this, hate the NBA because its dominated by blacks and in America, blacks or any minority are quick to be labeled "thugs" or some other low level word if theres a fight on the court or one walks in listening to rap music wearing non tight pants.
The NBA has tried to settle the ignorant rants by forcing players to come dress in suits, etc, but that doesnt seem to help all the whinners. If it helps, more international players are joining and every year it increases. So maybe this can help get rid of the ignorance towards the current majority of the players in the NBA.

Seabas989
Actually the best thing would have been if someone got hurt
Not killed or even critically wounded but if someone got hurt from all of this it would get the attention and scrutiny it deserves
Instead this is going to be just another "oh well" story and athletes are going to keep on thinking they need guns in their lives and the chances for something even more catastrophic are growing.
That's why the league has to hammer both players. This has solidified the stereotype the NBA has and that's going to take a whole lot of PR to fix.
The fact that both players are still playing shows how pathetic the NBA has become

Case 1: Allen Iverson Case 2: Chris Webber Case 3: Rasheed Wallace and Damon StoudamireCase 4: Stephen JacksonCase 5: Ron ArtestCase 6: Chris Andersen Sexual assault charges on Zach Randolph and Kobe, but those didn't stick I'm not a racist. In fact, I am black. I agree with X360PS3AMD05, it's just that most of the NBA players come from these urban environments where these illegal activities are rampant, and they carry that along with them. Please Log In to post.
