NCAA Football 08 Demo...Less Than Impressive

After downloading the NCAA Football 08 demo (which took forever) I was hoping it'd be way better than it is. It is the worst NCAA football game I have played. The crowd is nothing like a college crowd. It has no atmosphere. The game feels so slow and the hits are pretty boring.

Madden 08 looked better than this but c'mon this is just sad EA, this demo is a for NCAA is just sad...

Seems like half a game compared to last year's, and slow as hell too.

i will cry if this years ncaa football game is hideous. i cried after i played "hour of victory" because it reminded me of how low video game manafacturers can swoop to. please don't do the same for a sports game.

dpnt listen to him....The demo was great and one of the funnest demos available.

and maybe the reasons the demo didnt impress him was

the demo was 2 months old, so it was still in the buggy and still adding animations

their was no commentry in the demo, their is in the full game

The real game has more crwd stuff like the momentum crap

you couldnt look at your replays in the demo.

The reason i liked the demo was because the hit sttck 2.0 is great and leads up to great tackles.The cathes are awsome.The grapgics are incredible and the game runs like butter.

Man,that game was straight up SLEEPY!, Wow,i am so tierd after playing that game,i mean very slow,and very boring,very much like the crowd in the game. Ohhh Well,Ncaa 07 err..i mean 08 just isnt for me. Im sure,many will overlook the bedtime feeling of the game if they like the series,and thats cool. But...you might want to turn up the speed a bit.Oldkingsman

yeah i didnt like it too much either.....

But it feels like the same exact game as last year....so if you liked last year you will definately like this year..

You guys must be playing a different game than me cause I thought it was awesome. They completely stripped it down to make it smaller and so you can just focus on how the gameplay has changed. And it feels like a completely different game. Blocking AI has been tremendously improved and the animaitons and tackles look great. 60 fps is sweet. JBucc

It just makes it so that it can run a lot faster and smother without any graphical problems and no framerate problems.

Talk to anybody that has the full game and there are still frame rate problems...

Same here, this game plays so smooth. The new tackle animations are great and the gang tackling is fun to watch. The one-handed catches are amazing. This game will be the best in the series.

It looked nice, but it didn't feel like college football. If I'm getting a College football game I'll pick up 07 for half the price. I also may consider renting Madden before buying it because if it's like this I'll pass.Powerhitter0418

I agree. The game looks nice but College football is about atmosphere and its fast paced and unpredictable. Every thing that the demo is lack. Hopefully Madden is a whole lot better. Their is alwys 2k8 though :)

But, lemme guess, it'll only be 60 fps for Xbox 360...

Tackling is the best ever, idk what your talking about. And you probally feel this way because there is no commentary and it sounds just plain, also no replays and what not. The game is as smooth as ever, and the tackling is the best ive seen in any football game.Espurs117

Yeah the tackling isn't bad, I got that down now. But it just doesn't feel right (the whole game overall). Maybe im just not a big enough College fan to get into it. I guess that is what you get for liking Syracuse :P

I do think the tackling is awesome (hit stick 2.0 is stellar!) and for the most part it runs silky smooth but that doesn't make up for the clipping that pops up and the HORRIBLE blocking AI that lets D-linemen go through untouched every other play which is ridiculous! I don't mind too much though because I'm picking up APF 2K8 instead of NCAA. I am getting Madden 08 too since it usually plays better than NCAA.

Okay, I do have to tone down my critizism a bit because I have played the demo more and found it to be a bit better in the areas that annoyed me. The blocking issue seems to stem from the jump snap thing but it does need to be toned down because even if you jump the snap, the blockers at least get a hand on you and slow you down a TOUCH!!! When the computer jumps the snap though they walk right through and you can't get away. The jumping needs to be tweaked as well because when I jump as a WR or DB it never does it how it should. My guy does some ridiculous jump that makes no sense and usually ends up costing me a TD one way or the other. I know it's a two month old demo but usually the gameplay is the first thing they iron out so hopefully that's not the case with NCAA and they made those subtle (yet big) changes. It's a solid game as it is though and I really do love the fact that you control the players the whole time (ie: right after you catch and land) because it makes for a much more realistic game.
