It looks like Tom Benson will be changing the name of the Hornets to the Pelicans next season. I favor the name change since it reflects the city/state better than the Hornets did. What do you all think about this?

hahaha, i dont know how they expect to be taken seriously with that nameice144It could be worse though, another name Tom Benson was considering calling them was the New Orleans Brass.
If people in New Orleans like it then fine, whatever. Now lets see that logo. Master_LiveI think it will be interesting to see how they plan on making the Pelican look tough.
I dunno, Bucks can be pretty intimidating with the whole antler thing going on... :P...and the Bucks no longer have the least intimidating character/brand, lol.

Thats why I always thought their branding was a little silly.

Pelicans are terrifying monsters. It shouldn't be that hard.

In a way it would be a win-win situation. It also sounds much better if they change the name from New Orleans to Louisiana as well. And hey, if it lets Charlotte go back to being the Hornets, doesn't everybody win?

I kind of like sound of "The Brass". Sounds harder than Pelicans and literally is. Could be all kinds of promotional tie-in. The "Brass Section" in the N.O. Arena is the cheap loud seats with noise makers galore. It could be really festive.

The Brass just doesn't sound good to me.
What is so un-intimidating about a Pelican. They eat birds and fish whole. If you sit down and look at all the nicknames, not very many of them are very intimidating, and the New York Knicks clearly have the oddest name.
Should be the New Orleans tsunamis GamingVengeanceHurricanes would sound better and make more sense.

Ducks are the ultimate animal. They can walk, fly, and swim.[QUOTE="wildcat2000"]
