Man i can't even imagine what it must be like being a Chargers fan when they play the Raiders at home, they're probably afraid to go to their own stadium. Having actually seen what the crowds are like in the parking lot at these events.

There have been more fights lately, but it hasn't been what you might think. It's usually unruly fans drinking too much. But it's not usually just random acts of violence. As I've witnessed the last two weeks, Bills & Giants fans, have been going out of their way to talk and goat people into hating on them by acting rude and being completely ignorant of their surroundings. It's probably because they're a bit self conscious wearing the road team's jerseys while being surrounded by a sea of red, then acting out this strange machismo to counteract their being self conscious. Or they're just really ignorant. I told a guy last week, look around you, you're going to piss off the wrong person and he should chill out. He did for a second then went right back to yelling and cussing and talking smack. As soon as he went down the stairs and around into the tunnel a mob of people followed all gunning for him. Some people just do not know how to act in an adverse environment.

Yeah, that is exactly what's going on these days. Too much bravado and posturing. I respect anyone who wants to represent their team but to go in and act with that kind of attitude is uncivilized. Act how you would act in any other normal circumstance. Just because you're at a game doesn't mean you can loose all sense of civility.

[QUOTE="X360PS3AMD05"]People have noticed http://joeposnanski.blogspot.com/2012/10/when-cheering-stops.html

Thank you for this article! It's a good take, though I disagree with the one guy's thinking that nobody will be there in 5-10 years. The more likely is, if things don't get cleaned up somehow, there will be less and less civilized people and families. People will pay to go to games and that will not stop. We've seen it, even with bad officiating, people will continue to shell out. It's entertainment. But many will not be true fans or represent themselves within the guidelines of sportsmanship.
