Since we are at the midseason, we can at least begin to separate contenders and pretenders.

Undoubtedly, the Green Bay Packers. There is virtually no argument otherwise. I fully expect them to go 16-0.

Even with their problems, it has to be GB. They are steamrolling right now.

Green Bay Packers. This isnt even debatable.

They can score on literally any defense and no team has been able to slow down Aaron Rodgers. Team is averaging 34.4 PPG and that number would be higher if they didnt stop scoring during blowouts.

It's too bad the Packers cant play the Colts or they would score more than the Saints did on them.

Yeah, I hate to nip tick but when we are talking perfection then you have to look for some chink in the armor. For once, I don't this GB offense is better than NE's offense in 2007. And GB's defense has potential but it has look shaky so far.

...... >_> Why do you torture me so!? I NEED the 49ers to win against the Giants (Giants go to 6-3). The Cardinals should be an easy win, whether Kolb plays or not (Eagles hopefully go to 4-5). After that, it's Giants vs Eagles in the Meadowlands (if the Eagles win 5-5, Giants 6-4 but the Eagles have the advantage if their records match since the Eagles would be 3-1 in the NFC East, and the Giants would be 1-2)... This is my last hope :(

I don't see how it could be. Still on a roll dating back to last year, SB champs, undefeated...end of debate They have their problems/weaknesses, but so does every team. At this point, they have the best upside on offense and do the best job of covering up their weaknesses (defense)...that is all you can ask for in a cap league

I agree it's not debatable. That offense is just gonna steamroll everything in its way. Even if the defense is a little suspect at times (20th in DOVA). The debate is really for second. Where I think you can look at any number of teams (49ers, Ravens, Lions, Giants, Saints and possibly the Steelers).

I would laugh if their home field comes back to haunt them ...a west coast team that should be bad in cold weather could come to town for the NFC championship and beat a cold weather team that is actually built for warm weather...ROFL San Fran looks like they will get the other bye week (weakest schedule remaining I have ever seen). That means they only need to win one home game to get to GB in the playoffs They have a D that could at least slow the Packers (no one can 'stop' them in this NFL) It could be a blizzard and favor a team that runs and plays defense...not things the Packers do ...49'ers in the SB...LOL

Packers easy, right now its their league to lose. But somebody will beat them, I am sure of that as their defense isn't all the great.

The only downside to the Packers is that they were torched by Rivers yards wise. Shows that they are vulnerable.

BUT then again you need to score 50 points to beat the Packers the way they are playing. I don't see it happening. maybe an undefeated season could happen?

I don't think they will. I mean Mr. Rodgers has to have bad game at some point, right?

The NewYork Jets are gonna make a strong case in about 3-4 weeks. They are on a 3 game win streak right now and their defense looked dominating and in tune.

They have gone back to their roots as a physical ground and pound offense and punch you in the face defense and made everyone see past the hype of the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.

Plax is finally getting back into football shape and Sanchez is getting is timing down with his recievers.

P.S.- Jets are going to annhilate the Patriots this week.

Packers have the best offense but what happens when they can't consistently put up high points like the Patriots? The end result will be that they lose games. The Packer's defense are giving up way to many points and are way too inconsistent. I think Baltimore is the best team in football. They have the 7th highest scoring offense and their defense ranks 2nd in points allowed.

A team that gets embarrassed by the Jags and Titans isn't the best.

You can't win them all and unfortunately for the Ravens, their offense didn't show up for either game. I just feel like they are the team to beat once the playoffs come around. Unless the Packer's defense start playing better, they'll be in for a rude awakening once they get eliminated from the playoffs.

The Packers in a season where there are no truly dominate teams. The Packers have an average running game and a suspect defense that is depending on turnovers to cover for the fact they are giving up big yards.

I would say the Ravens are the favorite in the AFC, but their offense is suspect, with their offensive line being god awful

Don't get your hopes too high with the Jets. Right now they're still inconsistent. They have a good chance at beating the Patriots just as they do at losing to them. Remember, they dominated the Bills the first half and only came away with 3 points.

Of those listed I would say Packers followed by the Ravens. Giants have struggled during the last half in previous years so it will be interesting to see how they can hold up this year.

As for the 49ers I would not pick them because they play in the worse division in football (easy wins) and to me there only elite win was there away victory at Detroit. However they still have to play the Giants and Ravens before the month is over (wins over both teams would make them a very serious threat)

I am also interested in the Giants this year especially when everyone counted them out against the Cowboys and Eagles. Manning is haveing an impressive season so far.

I would love to see a Jets Vs. Giants Superbowl.

I know it's been said that you can't outscore everybody all the time, but Aaron Rodgers took that idea and threw it all the way to the moon. Jordy Nelson caught it and scored a touchdown with it. Then he did the Lambeau Leap.

They will slip up at some point, perfection is nearly impossible. But they are certainly the team to beat right now.

Even though I have been a diehard 49er fan for years and I love how they are dominating right now, I can't say they are better than the Packers. The Packers are just on another level still. I do think their defense needs to do a bit better, but with how good that offense is, they can give up quite a few points before it starts to matter.

I'll tell ya after this weekend! :)

I'm hoping 49ers get to play the Packers in the Playoffs, preferably the NFC Championship game. The 49ers are very much improved but they still need work. But there's plenty of time to do that.

They might be the best equipped to go into GB in the NFC championship and win. I am just not sold that they are the best equipped to win a home game after the bye before that...in sunny California. -maybe they will get lucky and get a beat up wild card team at home in the second round

Alright! The weekend's over and it's safe to say 49ers are in the conversation for TOP TWO NFC teams. They could, very well, be the Top Two in the NFL. GB is hot and on a roll. The Niners just get it done and win. You're right to be skeptical, they haven't done it yet. But they're going to be tough at home and have a staff and team that prides itself in preparation week in and week out, their going to be disciplined and have a solid game plan for whoever they face. Not something any wildcard team is going to be looking forward to. Plus they'll be able to rest players up before season's end and possibly give some of them two weeks off to get them fresh. Shoot, they already rested Gore for this Giants game. I don't buy that he was hurt. They're just playing it off.

In all honesty, they need to hope they get the second seed and that it is snowing in GB. They can't beat GB in San Fran IMO (might slow Rogers down, but can't score enough to beat them). -GB just has too many weapons They CAN win in the snow in GB though with a defense AND elements that will slow Rogers and company down
