Derrelle Davis should take a long look at that offer. Its not the Jets fault that the Raiders are idiots.

Why won't he stop being such a prick Lets say you are making 50 million. Why hold out for an extra ten or twenty million? What are you ever going to do with all that money?

Yet people scream the JETS are "cheap" and they have been lowballing Revis. This guy is a drama nut who's role model is his uncle who has sat out an entire season because he wanted to get paid of his choice. I have lost a lot of respect for Mr.Revis these past couple of weeks. Lets say that he rejects this offer and sits the entire season. What if hes sitting at home, watching the JETS play and see his backups filling in just nicely. Then what is he going to do  ?

Overall, im so sick of Revis right now that I wish he rejects or the JETS take this offer away. He has already held out on a contract hes now holding out on. Whos not to say he wont do this again? 10 years with this guy? No way.

And what if the Jets stunk it up because #1 receivers are catching TD's left and right?

They're going to give 10 years to a guy who can't commit to 2 or 3? (sigh) They have not learned.

Well if that was to happen then let if be. It wouldnt be the JETS fault. This is all Revis, his huge ego, and if he cared for the team, he would play. The Jets seem to be the reasonable guys here, Revis, not so. If he would of showed up in camp on time, he would of been guarenteed $ 5 million in 2011 and $ 15 million in 2012. He walked away from $ 21 million guarenteed all because of his EGO. All because he wants to be the highest paid player. So personally, I say **** him. As a JETS fan, im use to dissapointments and if the CB postion gets bombed then oh well. Life goes on, the team does as well. But really, the CB will do just fine :P Rex is all about the blitz and getting to the QB quickly first.

Being a Jets fan is not good for my heart. There always has to be some issue with them and the team.

i wouldnt let anybody handle my money like that cuz i know how to save my money and not b stupid with it like some athletes do, these football players think they are entitled to more money like this cuz they had 1 awesome year, what if he gets da $160 million and has a bad year or gets hurt, then da jets will feel stupid

Jets don't just get it. Design a contract with a length of 2-3 years that makes Revis the highest paid corner in the league. Simple, He's the best player on the team and arguably the best corner in the league. Just give in to his demands already.

If Revis turns down that deal (which he likely will, if he hasn't already) he's nuts. $12 million oer year for the next ten years is nothing to sneeze at, especially when a good portion of that will likely be guaranteed.

What for? So they can lose him in 3 years or go trough this again? They know hes the best, that's why they wanna sign him for a longer contract.

You do that with a guy who has 3 years left on his contract then you're gonna have similar issues with other marque players on their team with 2-3 years left on their contract. Revis won't sit out---he'll miss a year and maybe another if the CBA doesn't get hashed out. He'll lose 2 years of football money he can never get back. By missing his training campe, didn't he ruin his $20 million signing bonus... I think that's what I heard on ESPN.

He wants to be the top paid, above .. goddamnit I can't spell that guys name. nosemara or whatever.. He wont accept this deal. Besides its the guaranteed money that he really wants, they don't want to guarantee alot and not have a season next year, then be stuck with him for 10 years. The guy has ONE breakout season. Sure he was great last year but c'mon.. do it again, finish out your contract playing that good then you can sit down and really negotiate. What'll end up happening if they give him a great deal is he'll be sitting out in another 3 seasons.

Revis you pay him 120 and 10 years because the team they have will win super bowls in those ten years... Revis is the best player in football. You pay him to cover Brandon Marshall and Randy Moss.

Best player in football? Really? You realize he has safety help and other things that help him do his job right? and that he's only played at that level for one year?

Revis rarely gets safety help on top. That's why they call it Revis Island since he's by himself.

If the Jets cave in then every player that wants more money holds out. This $120 is a legit offer if there's at least $40 million guaranteed. Forget the Raiders stupid offer... the Jets are giving him fair market value in this offer. Now it's becoming to look like a todays player that's all about the money.. being greedy and not caring about his team. If I'm the Jets I tell Revis and his agent he has until monday to decide on the $120 million dollar offer. After that the Jets should turn off the phones and not even answer the agents calls for a while. Make the Revis camp sweat and see how greedy they are being. What Revis and his agent need to accept is that the Jets aren't going to do a deal that doesn't benefit both sides. BTW... both sides have said these negotiations will now be done in private. No more comments to the media. About time.

nobody is going to pay him for a year because he's under contract with the jets...and if he holds out he has to sit out a year...wich means he wont be comming off his best season ever...he will have lost a full NFL season...no one would even pay him near as much as the jets are offering him if he sits out a season and loses a step.

Could possible be two years even if there is a holdout. Funny thing is to he's past the point now where even if he plays for his 1 mil this year, it wont count towards his contract, so he's still stuck with 3 years left after this year.

the only way he's gonna see any more money is if he's traded and his new team signs him to a new contract.....the problem with that is the jets would want multiple picks including atleast a first rounder(possibly 2 first roundrs) and a 2nd rounder...no team except maybe the raiders are going to give up that much, just to have to sign him to a 160 mill contract. and if he sits out a year, it will be 2 full years since he played

He can demand all he wants, fact is ALL the power is on the Jets side. If they don't want revis to ever play again he wont (unless he plays for his 1 mil of course) or they'll demand alot in trade for him, which would satisfy them. Revis has nothing to bargain with here, play out your damn contract that YOU HELD OUT FOR IN THE FIRST PLACE!

just because he demands a trade or to be released doesnt mean that jets would do it...as far as releasing him its doubful since they would take a cap hit.

if he sits no one is going to pay him and he wont get as much money after not playing in the NFL for 2 years....he is under CONTRACT with the jets. The NFL will not allow revis to break that contract....and no team in their right mind is gonna give up 1st round draft picks in a trade any way just to have to pay him 160 million dollars...he's not worth it.....Peyton manning isnt worth that. much less a one hit wonder cornor back...the only team that would make that trade is the raiders

I doubt the Jets will commit to a long term contract that fits Revis's demands. They need to design a short-term contract with incentives.

Jets don't just get it. Design a contract with a length of 2-3 years that makes Revis the highest paid corner in the league. Simple, He's the best player on the team and arguably the best corner in the league. Just give in to his demands already.CleanPlayer

I think designed a short-term contract with incentives will definitely be more suitable towards Revis. And yea, he missed the deadline the Jets set so I don't think he's able to get the signing bonus or guranteed money or whatever it is.

Revis and agent can't do squat. If he wants to sit down for three years, he can. He can demand a trade all he wants, but in the end, the JETS own his rights for three years. And IF he doesn't play this year, or next year depending on the CBA, that's money he'll never get back esp. in his prime years.
[QUOTE="fastr"]no one else can pay him, he's under contract for another 3 years. Revis has no options.. well, no, He has an option of playing for his million, or never playing football again. MoonMarvel
He can demand a trade or to be released. Even if he sits out somebody would pay him, doesnt matter if they should somebody would.

Why would you guys put any importance on a meaningless 1st game of the Pre Season? Total waste of time.

And the only real bargaining chip the Revis camp has is they know the Jets have put ALL their eggs in the 2010 basket to win it all. There is a possible lockout next year and who knows about the future. The Jets are going for it NOW in 2010... and they know deep down they can't win a SB without Revis. They barely got in last year with him... and the D totally would have been an average unit without him. I think the time to really start caring about this holdout is with about a week to go before week 1. He can step in tomorrow and start at CB as far as preparation goes... it's all about getting the deal done.

Revis doesnt get it. Hes thinking only for himself and not the team. If the JETS give him what he wants, it will handicap the team.

If the Jets don't give Revis what he wants, they don't make the playoffs. Plain and Simple, Revis had proved his worth. The Jets should offer him more incentives.

No. The JETS can make the playoffs without Revis. Revis =/= JETS. Rex is the brain of the D and he'll figure out something if Revis doesnt return. I wish people can stop saying "if Revis isnt there, the JETS have no chance." Its nonsense. Look, if the JETS CB start getting picks left and right, people will start to wonder, was it all Revis or was it the system.

The Jets only strength is their defense. Losing Revis for a year weakens their D some sure, but it doesn't just destroy it. Its a damn good D with or without him. The Jets have no chance with or without him because they have no offense. So it doesn't really matter if he plays or not.

Its not all meaningless to me though. I want to see how the rookie can handle the field.

And if they don't I want to see the Jets crawling back to Revis Island. Which is why the first pre-season game is important.

The way teams handle business in the NFL is funny. They expect players like Revis to be loyal and continue to play even though they out preformed their contract, but I can guarantee you that they'd either trade or release him if he played horrible the last 2 seasons. Maybe they should have gave Revis a new contract before they acquired an overrated CB (Cromartie) and a washed up RB (LT).

I love how people are saying"well he's greedy thinking only about himself"

That's the only person he should be thinking about lol

"What's he going to do with all that money?"

He's going to spend it and invest it, I don't see anyone around here taking less at the job they're at
