I've never been sold on Tomlin as a coach.duxupReally? I don't think he could be a more perfect coach.
[QUOTE="duxup"]I've never been sold on Tomlin as a coach.blackngold29Really? I don't think he could be a more perfect coach. Of course you think that. You're a Steeler's fan. Anyways, I hope they go down. My Super Bowl 40 temper flares when I hear about them. Plus, Roethlisburger and Ward are pricks.

I always thought the Ravens would win the division this year. This just proves that my prediction thus far will come correct :PMister__AwesomeKey words are "thus far", but really I don't care about the division title, it means nothing.
Just a little rusty. Besides, we would've easily won if Sweed didnt drop the damn pass in the endzone..
I've never been sold on Tomlin as a coach.duxupWhat does he have to do to impress you then? Win 4 straight superbowls and find a cure for every disease out there?
These two games have just shown us how valuable TP really is. Once he's back they'll be back on track, but I think they'll finish 11-5 and snag a Wildcard spot.
What does he have to do to impress you then? Win 4 straight superbowls and find a cure for every disease out there? That would help, but I haven't seen much evidence that he has done much more than fall into in the right place at the right time where other folks do just fine too.Just a little rusty. Madden curse folks, and I highly doubt they will repeat with a SB win this season. I think the Ravens is the team to beat in the AFC.

The year before, the steelers were 8-8 and good players left with Cowher. It looked the Tomlin's first year was going to be a rebuilding season, but instead we made it to the playoffs ( and sadly lost). Then next year, we won the superbowl. You could argue that he was in the right place at the right time, but when you look into it, that's not true.

It isn't true because you say so. I just don't buy that he's a great, or even good coach yet.[QUOTE="taj7575"][QUOTE="duxup"] That would help, but I haven't seen much evidence that he has done much more than fall into in the right place at the right time where other folks do just fine too.duxup

Yes and I stated in the form of an opinion. Unlike your post. "but when you look into it, that's not true."Compare to what? Being named the Lions coach isn't a good spot, being named coach to one of the classiest, more stable franchise in Football history ain't that bad.Fine. In my opinion, peoples opinion about Tomlin put into a good spot is wrong.

Actually, ure right. "good spot" isint the word. I agree, he was in a good spot, but the year before, we were not good, so he wasnt in an amazing spot either.
But yeah, obviously being the coach of the steelers is much better than the Lions. The only team worse to be a coach on is probably the Raiders.
colts win afc south, ravens afc north, jets afc east, chargers afc west
now i'm relatively certain that if the pats don't get the division, they'll get the wildcard (jets-pats are both in regardless which one wins the division). that leaves 1 wild card for pitt, miami, houston, cinci (beat the steelers today).
pitt has slightly the best chances out of those 4, but its not a given. they did lose to the bengals today.

See, this is what I hate. A coach barely has anything to do with how well the team does. You can have the most spectacular coach, but if your team can't play well then you aren't going to do well, end of story. Sure, a coach has some influence and can turn around a bad team sometimes, but most of the time it all depends on what players you have and how well they work together.

Nice joke.
Tomlin won the SB with Cowher's team. Slowly the team built in Cowher's image will fade away. I don't think Steeler fans will be happy with what is left.
A SS being out should not be the difference between a win and a loss. In case you havent noticed, Harrison and Woodley are not generating a pass rush which is a much bigger problem for the Steelers.
I agree with that. I think Troy's absence is overstated. A QB maybe but his absence can't make that much difference. There have to be other issues like you mentioned with pass rush.Tomlin won the SB with Cowher's team. Slowly the team built in Cowher's image will fade away. Good teams find a way to win without their star players. I think the lost has to be shouldered by the offense not scoring enough to win, i think the PIT defense played good enough to win that game at Cincy. The PIT defense is doing splendid without Troy if you ask me, the offense just needs to score a bit more and they should be fine.[QUOTE="bunchofpixels"]

Meh they played 2 bad games. I don't know if they'll win their divison Baltimore already has a 2 game lead but I think at they'll get the wildcard at the least
Cowher's image will fade away (whatever that means) because Tomlin drafts more like Chuck Noll did, and it was Noll, not Cowher, that really built the Steelers. I don't think Pat's fans will be happy with what arises.Tomlin won the SB with Cowher's team. Slowly the team built in Cowher's image will fade away. I think they'll be just fine..Its pretty obvious that the defensive lacks the punch and versatility it has when the omnipresent polamalu is on the field but theit held his part for most ofboth losses. We need better production in the red zone, its really maddening seeing a great drive get totally stalled 1 yard from td against the bungals!
The team is very talented and always find ways to win when it matter the most so Im actually happy that this losses came early in the season so everybody there get that u need tu put ur arse on the line ALL the game to actually win it.. Having said that the team has problems that will surely be adressed next offseason (unless we get lucky number seven then all is alright), my main concern with theteamis the inability of the line to create holes for the running game and establishing the run, the pass block has been a lot better but I just dont get why they cant make lanes for the run, this coupled with fast willy gettin' happy feet before he even reaches the line of scrimmage is making our offense very predictable and big ben cant always make something out of nothing. Besides that Im feeling pretty good 'bout my team even though Im pretty close of putting bust labels on Mendy and Sweed, specially the latter which is really sad 'cause the guy has loads of potential, I mean this guy actually gets VERY open pretty often the trouble Is he also has a severe case of the dropsies. Mendy hasnt had a lot of chances to prove himself but the fact that coach Tomlin didnt use him because of poor training sessions doesnt make me very confident. All in all Mike Wallace seems to be adapting pretty damn fast and our core of receivers is pretty solid even without sweed..
So to conlcude this big rant (sorry I get kinda excited when Im talking steelers) I would say that the team's gonna find his way even before Polamalu gets back and we have a not-so-tough schedule so dont panic steeler nation, we'll be just fine!!
PS: Damn you madden curse!!!
