I complete agree. This tops even MVP Baseball 2005 for me. It's simply a solid, and surprisingly realistic game. And you're right, the scoring is very rewarding. That's because the game's AI forces you to play real hockey which is amazing in and of itself.

Yep, best sports game ever as far as I'm concerned (even better than NHL 94!).

I whole heartedly agree. Every hockey fan needs to get it. If you're anti-EA, get over it for this one product because its quality lol. Everyone else should at least try the demo.

i bought it not long ago. i think the franchise have finally brought everything together in this one. it seemed like before they would add a new good feature but take it away for another. like the skill stick they added dropped it and finally readded back in this one.

Yup i agree man, this is the msot fun ive had on a hockey videogame since 1993. EA really dia a great job on the AI and gameplay this year. Last year the controls and graphics where nice, but i wasntenjoying the gameplay nearly as much as this years (its more realistic it seems this year and a tad slower paced). It really makes you play solid defense which is nice.

I'm so tired of EA's hockey games that I haven't bought one since 2004; and I've followed the series since the first game on the Genesis. I guess I have nothing to lose by trying the demo, but I have been jaded with sports games in general over the last few years with new releases having just some cosmetic changes that don't provide value for your buck.

If used be a big 2K hockey fanboy simply because their hockey games were better, but ever since EA introduced the skill stick everything drastically changed. I didn't buy any of EA's hockey games since NHL 2002 until last year. NHL 08 was the best hockey game I had ever played, but NHL 09 is even better. The overall experience just comes together beautifully this year, especially with the Be a Pro mode. If you haven't played any of EA's hockey games within the past 3 years, go download the demo for NHL 09 and you'll fall in love with the skill stick lol.

Yeah, I can't believe how amazing NHL 09 is. I really like 08 but with the additions to 09... it takes the cake! It is one of, if not, THE best sports game around! I can't get enough of the online Be A Pro! This game will restore your faith in hockey games for sure!
